There was a mention some months ago during the active development of 'sea' generation that when '--generate-sea:no-mp' was used 'natural=coastline' cannot be displayed. I understand that a patch was developed to reinstate this. Can this patch now be landed on the development 'trunck'. Bill.

Splitter issue

Multipolygones and tags in outer line

Hi, I found now several buildings/areas, which where constructed with multipolygons, but where only the inner polygons where ignored for rendering. As an example see at: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/56430 This is a building with tree inner polygons. As long as the outer-polygone http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/10700238 has tags, the whole building is rendered as one whole area. If I move the tags from the outer-polygone to the multipolygone (for example like done with http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/6187) it's rendered correct. Is this a mkgmap bug? Or is it possible to fix this with the style file? Index branch - success!

Hi Some progress on the index branch. I found that the flags at the end of mdr7 trigger the acceptance of the 20-29 sections. I can now download the maps to my Legend. Now when you try address search, it is in a completely different mode. There is a country field (although labelled region) and as you make selections in the country/city fields it reduces the options available in the streets field Addresses can be found in other tiles and not just the closest one. ..Steve

patched polish file charset and multipolygon handling

Dear developers, I'm new to mkgmap, just replacing cgpsmapper because it's slow, buggy and closed source. I have tried to compile from an .mp file. The resulting .img file had two huge problems: 1. Wrong character encoding. I used an .mp source file in code page ISO-8859-2 (or Windows-1250). I was unable to fix encoding of Hungarian accented characters (áéíóúöőüű), tried all possible variations of --charset and --code-page options. I even tried to iconv .mp file to UTF-8 but it was also wrong way, img file had UTF-8 labels. Finally, I have modified READING_CHARSET in mkgmap/reader/polish/PolishMapDataSource.java from "UTF-8" to "ISO-8859-2" and accented characters started to work. The used config was --charset=cp1252 --code-page=1252. The same worked when I specified ISO-8859-1, because the listed Hungarian characters are on the same place in two charsets. I think READING_CHARSET should be a new option or linked to --charset option. 2. Multipolygon errors. Polygons with holes looked bizarre, long triangles appeared between endpoints of parts with alternating (negative/positive) rendering. Test showed detailed problems: a. parts of multipart polygons were not closed at the last point b. parts of multipart polygons were appended to each other, not stored as separated parts c. multipolygon splitter treated "new" holes as areas, not holes Investigating problem "b" showed that mkgmap stores polygons as a single List<Coord>. Garmin img also doesn't support holes or multipolygons. For a working solution, I have created a workaround model for multipart polygons: first point of first part stands as a global starting point. Second part (hole or area, doesn't mind) is connected to this starting point with a zero-width capillary on the start and on the end as well. Every other parts are connected on the same way. Every parts should be closed (first node = last node), this was not checked before (problem "a"). Problem "b" became the spine of the solution, parts are appended. The connection between parts are only visible if polygon border is rendered. Old cgpsmapper did the same way for holes, only difference is that cgpsmapper looked up the closest nodes for connection. I did not want to implement such a power-hungry algorithm, it's indifferent theoretically where holes are connected to areas. Another difference from cgpsmapper: multipolygons of disjoint areas were published to img as two independent polygons, resulting two labels on map. I have implemented this model in two polygon processing class. Resulting .img file is now correct, even islands appear in holes. Modified files: mkgmap/reader/polish/PolishMapDataSource.java mkgmap/filters/PolygonSplitterBase.java QUESTION: Where can I post my patch? Can I use SVN? Which branch? Attached patch against r1846. Improved street search in index branch

Hi On the index branch I have committed a change to sort the roads in the NET section in the same order as in the index. Prior to the I was unable to find any street containing a ü character in the first part of the name, now I can almost always find a street if the city field is empty. I have also found the reason why cities are in the index in incompatible forms such as Mönchweiller and Moenchweiller. There is some hard coded styling that uses the openGeoDB:sort_name tag to get the name of the city for an element, but the city itself gets the regular name tag (or whatever the style sets the name to). So I've changed this to use openGeoDB:name instead. As the change affects the tiles you must recompile the tiles, not just the index. You must also use --latin1. ..Steve

objects with line and polygon

Hi, I have some problems to create a style with draws objects correct, which have a line and polygon tag. For example http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/37712194 On my maps, only "barrier = fence" is drawn, but the landuse tag is ignored. On www.streetmap.org, it is mapped "correct". How can I modify the style file, so that the line and landuse are drawn? Weird behavior and problem with splitter r161

Hello Splitter doesn't work work anymore.... I am downloading the geofabrik european map to build my own benelux map. for this I cut the european PBF with Osmosis to generate a Benelux PBF. I then "split it" into tiles with the special r161 splitter version that supports PBF as input before running the rest of the processing. This worked and I already generated a usefull map. But since my latest tentative (European data of wednesday and thursday) the splitter stops processing (without any error message) and the generated maps are missing most of their features (ex: roads). The weird behavior I see is that when the splitter starts to process the "way occupancy" it displays "MAP occupancy: 0" and exists immediatly. This should explain why I don't see any roads on my generated maps.
