Binary OSM file support?

Now that Osmosis is getting support for a binary format, is there anyone working on getting binary support into the splitter and mkgmap? I could take a look, but I'm not much of a Java hacker... -- Jeff Ollie

[PATCH v1] Multipolygon: Distinct processing for line and polygon tagging

This patch enables mkgmap to make use of real multipolygons and of multipolygons where only the members should be tagged (e.g. country boundaries) without any change on the style rules. It adds a copy of each original line of a multipolygon with an outer role, tags them with the mp tags and an additional mkgmap:stylefilter=polyline. The generated polygon elements are tagged with mkgmap:stylefilter=polygon. The style system evaluates the mkgmap:stylefilter tag and processes such tagged elements only with the appropriate style rules. The --process-boundary-relations option is no longer neccessary and has been removed. WanMil P.S.: Please have a look on the StyleTester class. I am not sure if I have implemented a good solution :-)

Little assist needed from the style code implementors

Hi, I have rather finished the changes for the new multipolygon line/polygon tag handling (see http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/pipermail/mkgmap-dev/2010q3/008977.html) But I need some quick help from someone who known the Java internals of the style processing. All line rules should be executed only if the line contains the tag "mkgmap:styleusage=line" or if the tag is not set. The same for polygons with "mkgmap:styleusage=polygon". I think this should be easy with an AndOp? But I don't know how to set this rule to the lines/polygons RuleSet in StyleImpl. Any suggestions? Thanks! WanMil

Extract superclass OsmHandler for code that will common to the binary handler. This meant that the sax parser part must be separated into an inner class. Should be ready to implement the binary reader now.
