Hi I have started to implement adding features into the overview map. You can find ready built jar files on the download page and in the 'overview' branch in subversion. It creates the overview map from the .img (as before) and so it is very quick to try out even on a set of tiles covering a whole country. There is no configuration yet, it just takes everything (lines and polygons) that is in the least detailed layer of the detailed maps and adds it into the overview. You will immediately notice a big problem in that the overview map shows up even when the detailed maps are being displayed, so you get ugly jagged lines across the top of the map. I remember this happening the last time we has an overview map and I wonder if anyone can remember if there was a solution then? I'm going to start by trying the (so-called) POI flags, as one of those has been noted to be set differently on detail and base maps before. ..Steve

Trouble getting some multipolygons to render in mkgmap

Hi, I'm having trouble getting mkgmap to render (using either the default style or my custom style) some multipolygons which I'm fairly sure are OK. The first is this one: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/552313 The inner water way renders fine, but the outer way (leisure=park / barrier=wall) only renders the wall and not the park polygon. It renders fine both in mapnik and in osmarender. Another is the paired set of nested multipolygons at the nearby equestrian club: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/414803 and http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/1184439 These both look fine in mapnik but this time osmarender only shows the inner multipolygon and mkgmap shows neither. And finally: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/660096 Which renders fine in mapnik and osmarender, but not mkgmap I'm assuming I somehow tagged these mps wrongly as I created them...can someone point out my error? I'm sure it'll be a "doh" moment for me. -- Charlie

What way to create basic address and POI search in map created with mkgmap? OSM data have tag in addr:* shema (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:addr) map created with --make-poi- index and --index, but search in garmin not work. -- wbr, Maks

This can be used to extract substrings from values. Gave an error like this: java.lang.NullPointerException at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyledConverter.setBoundingBox(StyledConverter.java:399) Also make sure that if the input file is completely empty, then we have an empty bounding box.
