Thanks people! I repulled the data from OSM - just in case and then reordered the command options as suggested. That resulted in a .img three times larger than I was previously using and now for the most part route calculation has sprang back into life. Awesome, thanks for the help! I'd never have thought of doing that! 'Not Near Any Road' Error Message

Hi Folks, I'm using the latest build of mkgmap and loading the results onto my Garmin Vista HCx. The map renders fine on the gps, but whenever I try to route anywhere (including to a destination within the tile in which I'm originating) the route computation fails at about 2% and complains that I'm not near a road. I'm using: java -jar ./mkgmap/mkgmap.jar ./midab.osm ./southab.osm --gmapsupp --route I'm going to try compilation with a single .osm tile, but I never used to have this problem with an older version of mkgmap - I just can't remember which older version that was! I've tried setting a reference point to a road or intersection before I try and route but that doesn't help either, it still fails. Any help much appreciated - thanks! 'Route Calculation Error: No Roads Near Starting Point'

Hi Folks, I'm using the latest build of mkgmap and loading the results onto my Garmin Vista HCx via an SDcard, Windows XP. The map renders fine on the gps, but whenever I try to route anywhere using 'Follow Road' on the GPS (including to a destination within the tile in which I'm originating) the route computation fails at about 2% and complains that I'm not near a road. I'm using: java -jar ./mkgmap/mkgmap.jar ./midab.osm ./southab.osm --gmapsupp --route The error doesn't go away if I just specify one .osm tile. I never used to have this problem with an older version of mkgmap - I just can't remember which older version that was! I've also tried sitting right in the middle of the road outside my house and it still errors out :) Any help much appreciated - thanks! If you need to override the check (during development for example) you can give options with a leading 'x-'. So --x-family-id is exactly the same as --family-id except that the check that family-id is valid is not performed. Documented some options that were not. By the way, the option help file is a complete jumble and needs re-organising.

The only difference should be that attempting to run on java 1.5 will give a java error message, instead of a nicer message, saying that you need to upgrade. Also include the README files into the release.

problem with mkgmap r1699

Moin, I have a problem with mkgmap version r1699: it crashes while generating my maps. With r1673 everything was ok. It does not seem to be related to the style, I tried different layers of my maps and all are crashing. Binary-Format

Hi, On Geofabrik I found the new pbf-files. They ar much smaller, so I would like to use them. Are there any ready-to-use files of osmosis, splitter and mkgmap which can use the binary format? Which new parameters I have to use for osmosis and splitter?
