Hi Gerd, Please find attached a patch to improve the documentation of sea processing plus minor changes to --add-pois-to-lines. I note that extend-sea-sectors says "Adds a point so coastline reaches the nearest tile boundary. This implies no-sea-sectors". But no-sea-sectors disables the generation of sea sectors when the coastline fails to reach the tile's boundary, so I would have thought that extend-sea-sectors is an alternative action and would imply that no-sea-sectors is off. map boundary error

Hi all, In creating a small test file I seem to have found an issue. The attached OSM file has just 3 points and two ways form a right-angled triangle. In the attached BaseCamp image, the blue line is the boundary of the map. Its vertical lines contain the ways, but the horizontal lines do not. I can also see that the road in the underlying base map enters into the blue rectangle, suggesting that the blue line is not where the map boundary actually is. How does this boundary line get created Cheers, Mike

Pending changes

On [1] Ticker proposed a set of changes to default style lines file. There was a long discussion about point #14, which ended without a consensus. Other changes didn't get any objection, but they didn't get into trunk. I agree with numbers 1, 6, 8, 10, 15, 17, 18. Also with 7 and 16, but for unconnected ways only, see #3. 2: more codes could be added for wider highways and their corresponding entries in mapnik.txt 3: not sure about this one, specially about semi-connected ways, which I think should remain as routable (also applies for 7, 16). FYI Population specified on admin boundaries

Hi, The French osm community decided to remove the population tag from cities and towns and add them the municipality admin-border instead. Because of this tagging place=city can not be displayed at certain zoomlevels based on the population anymore. I added this to the relation file to have large cities nicely popup early on lower zoomelvels again type = boundary & boundary = administrative & population = * { apply role=admin_centre { set population = '${population}'; } } (or bettter: you assign it here to a new tag "population_from_boundaries" and check both in the points style to avoid accidential overwrites, which I actually did) Kind regards, Joris Bo jorisbo(a)hotmail.com<mailto:jorisbo@hotmail.com>

Multipolygon Role Understanding

Hi all, with my limited multipolygon knowledge I stumbled on missing poi tags here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/4077717 The multipolygon is tagged more limited than the outer role. mkgmap renders the mp-tags, but drops the more useful outer tags (name etc.). This useful it´s rendered on openstreetmap, but I can´t get it with mkgmap. Tried default style and others, even OsmAnd (in OffRoad.jar) - all fail. So I wonder how or at all I could style the desired display in mkgmap. Of course the mp itself might be wrong - don`t know - but then I suspect a lot of them ;-/ Jan

[OFF] display zoom level of lines

Hello Guys, can be a bit offtopic... I noticed that my Garmin Zumo XT is now showing certain lines on the resolution I defined in the style. In the Basemap it works fine, just the device overrides it. For example 0x1d used for administrative boundary(<6)only drawn under 8km on the device even the resolution is set to 14. In the Basecamp it works according to the resoluiton set in the style. 0x1c dislayed according to the resolution set in both Basecamp and XT. Does any of you have info on th topic(why/how/limits)? Fix Sea Patch

Hi Gerd, Mkgmap used to contain some code that attempted to correct incorrect sea and land data where polygons were ordered in the wrong direction. This was removed some time ago because it didn't work properly. I have put together the attached patch that works much better and have been using it for some time. With the sea data that I use, which contains quite a large number of incorrectly ordered polygons, it manages to correct every error it finds. It won't be able to fix really gross errors, but providing most of the data is correct it will produce good results. Please review and commit if happy. Cheers, Mike

opposite-cycleways option

Hi, I'm trying to improve routing for my bicycle and the oneway allowed for bicycles by using the --make-opposite-cycleway option But I was wondering what the criteria are for creating such extra cycleways. I have read some earlier posts an 'll found Gerd's comments on http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/pipermail/mkgmap-dev/2014q2/020818.html But the manual does not state what is actually implemented. Is there some more documentation somewhere? As far as I understand now * Only if a highway has oneway=yes AND (some variants of oneway:bicycle = no) then * Mkgmap will create an extra highway line with (mkgmap:synthesised = yes) * Within my style file I'll pick up the mkgmap:synthesised=yes and assign an "invisible overlay routeable highway" line and then * Remove the oneway-tag (which applies to cars) * set mkgmap:bicycle/foot=yes * set mkgmap:car/hgv/bus/delivery=no Is that correct? OT: Style to help mapping?

Hi all, with new Bing areal images I started mapping the area around my home town. This has an effect on my cycling activities as well, I am now much more interested in details reg. e.g. highway=track without tracktype or highways crossing small waterways (bridge or tunnel=culvert?) as well as different landuses like meadow and farmland. Does anybody know a public map style that hilites those details? Gerd
