mkgmap.jar --version ?

Earlier I got a nice release string when invoking mkgmap.jar with the argument --version. With the latest trunk release r7850 downloadable I get 'unknown': PS P:\> java -jar tools/mkgmap/mkgmap.jar --version Time started: Thu Oct 24 09:02:44 CEST 2013 unknown Got that also on selfcompiled versions earlier and with intermediate downloads (just the mkgmap.jar) but there I thought rXXXX is only contained if properly compiled on the servers... is that on purpose ? .... the option '--version' is still mentioned in the --help=options output. Hi Steve, thanks a lot for pointing at the problem, you guessed the right fact. I had a look on the files on another PC with notepad++ - the coding of all files was ANSI. I saved them another time with my systems notepad as utf-8 - and got ansi again (maybe due to all characters belong to the ansi charset). Now I swapped my editor to notepad++ and mkgmap runs as expected. I'm happy :-) Thanks

TYP compiler: problem with points with ID 0x6620 (Type=0x066 SubType=0x20)

Gents, I don't think it's a bug in the typ compiler, but at least a strange behaviour that either needs 'correction', a warning or an error message during the run.... and most probably also some documentation update. I have the following text int the source txt file (point ID 0x6620): [_point] Type=0x066 SubType=0x20 String1=0x00,Information Office String2=0x01,Information Office String3=0x02,Information Office String4=0x04,Information Office ... [end] If I compile that with mkgmap and open up the binary TYP file with TypViewer then I see that it got 'converted' into (point ID 0x6600) [_point] Type=0x066 SubType=0x00 String1=0x00,Information Office String2=0x01,Information Office String3=0x02,Information Office String4=0x04,Information Office ... [end] This strange conversion matches what I've seen on the map and which caused some investigations and at the end this email. BTW: similar thing happens if I use TypViewer to compile the source txt file into a binary TYP file: it changes the mentioned point from ID 0x6620 into ID 0x6700. Is there a well known limitation for the subtype values I haven't found/seen ? I was looking on the web but couldn't find anything about given Type and SubType combination being invalid/not allowed. rules for polygon based on line tag

hello is there a way to write a rules to put a polygon style based on the tag of a line inside this polygon. i want to draw the riverbanck of canal or river with one color if the waterway line has tag "motorboat=yes" or "boat=yes" and draw with another color if this tag are not present thank claude

Raindrop roundabout

Hi, Someone created two raindrop-shaped roundabouts for the ramps of a dual carriageway that is under construction. Mkgmap obviously does not like this. I wonder if there is a better tagging.
