Idea for a "--split-pois" option

Hi list, I have a node with two POIs inside (amenity=restaurant and tourism=alpine_hut): addr:city: Axams addr:country: AT addr:postcode: 6094 addr:street: Köhlgasse amenity: restaurant ele: 1927 name: Coburger Hütte operator: DAV Sektion Coburg operator:tenant: Friedrich Schranz smoking: no tourism: alpine_hut I want to process both POIs (alpin_hut and restaurant). Yes it's possible to do so, but this results in a lot of logic. It would be much simpler if the node could be split: addr:city: Axams addr:country: AT addr:postcode: 6094 addr:street: Köhlgasse amenity: restaurant ele: 1927 name: Coburger Hütte operator: DAV Sektion Coburg operator:tenant: Friedrich Schranz smoking: no addr:city: Axams addr:country: AT addr:postcode: 6094 addr:street: Köhlgasse ele: 1927 name: Coburger Hütte operator: DAV Sektion Coburg operator:tenant: Friedrich Schranz smoking: no tourism: alpine_hut What do you think about the idea ? interesting effect : C:\mkgmap.jar --mapname=99999999 --gmapsupp test.typ --remove-short-arcs --style-file=styles --style=test --family-id=446 --keep-going --transparent --index --net --route --draw-priority=10 C:\map.osm this results in an img 10000000.img C:\mkgmap.jar --gmapsupp test.typ --remove-short-arcs --mapname=99999999 --style-file=styles --style=test --family-id=446 --keep-going --transparent --index --net --route --draw-priority=10 C:\map.osm this creates 99999999.img as you would expect when placing mapname before gmapsupp the mapname value is generally incremented by one , ie 200000000,img becomes 200000001.img tested with latest mkgmap Not a problem, just interesting ..Nick -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/just-the-one-tp5453358p5453358.html Sent from the Mkgmap Development mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

The OSM data for the Lake District contains both lines and polygons tagged 'man_made=jetty'. How will mkgmap handle these? Will the first one encountered dominate, or will they be treated independently of each other? Hint regarding creation of bnd files with mkgmap

Hi, if you plan to use the --createboundsfile parameter to create your own precompiled boundary data, I suggest to use it with an empty target directory (default is bounds). Reason: mkgmap will create new *.bnd files for the data given in the input file, but it will "rework" all (!) *.bnd files that are found in the target directory. This rework process is very time consuming and it will fail if your target directory contains corrupted bnd files that are not overwritten in the first step. I don't know if this was intended?
