Routing and tunnels

I decided I wanted to show bridges and tunnels on my maps; bridges were easy but I have trouble with tunnels. If I try the following as a catchall for all highways which are tunnels: highway=* & tunnel=yes [0x11501 road_class=0 road_speed=1 resolution 23] Or specifically for each type of highway e.g.: highway=cycleway & tunnel!=yes [0x10 road_class=0 road_speed=1 resolution 23] . . . . . . highway=cycleway & tunnel=yes [0x11501 road_class=0 road_speed=1 resolution 23] The visual results are what I expect: you see the cycleway, then the tunnel, and then the cycleway again. But routing is broken and you are unable to route through the tunnel for any type of highway. If however I do the following: highway=* & tunnel=yes [0x11501 resolution 23 continue] . . . . . . highway=cycleway [0x10 road_class=0 road_speed=1 resolution 23] I see both the tunnel and the cycleway, rather than just the tunnel, but at least I can route through the tunnel. So it seems if you have the test tunnel=yes it breaks routing. Is this expected behaviour? I am using R2328. Cheers, Geoff.

US address considerations

one of the things i learned on the US chapter mappy hour chat last night is that a lot of US addresses do not have the addr:state tag filled in. this is something that is going to need to be considered in handling house numbers in the US. richard

Options

Hi I've written up my thoughts on each option on the wiki at: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mkgmap/dev/option-review I think there are a few obsolete/unworking options that can be removed straight away. I will come up with a mechanism for documenting and applying default to options and then a way to warn on option removal or changes so they can be phased in over a period. ..Steve

bizarro house number cases, part 1

as i encounter oddball situations with house numbers, i'll post links to examples here for consideration. not all of them may be easily solvable, i'm just trying to provide more information. here's one i encountered recently. evens are on the west side of the road, all odds on the loop at the end, except for 176 which is out of place mixed in with the odds. currently, there are no homes on the east side of the road except at the loop. http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=42.59767&lon=-73.5522&zoom=17&layers=M

line types not showing in basecamp

I have found that line types 35 and 17 do not show in Basecamp (the lines show if I change the line type) others say that they do is there a list of types which do not show in Basecamp ?
