Street search directly supported by mkgmap on GPS device?

Hello, Would it be possible that the new street search will be directly supported by mkgmap without uploading the map using Mapsource to the GPS device (nüvi)? It is actually possible to create a multi-layer gmapsupp.img (SRTM data + OSM + some thematic layer) and make the street search working on the GPS device? In other words: does Mapsource support multilayer gmapsupp.img? Where is the street index stored on the device after uploading the map using Mapsource? Thank you for some info! mkgmap.log.0 warning messages in triplicate

Hi, I use the -Dlog.config=logging.properties java option in combination with the following mkgmap switches: --check-roundabouts --drive-on-right --check-roundabout-flares --report-dead-ends --max-flare-length-ratio:5 I've noticed that in the mkgmap.log.0 file, I'm now seeing every error relating to roundabouts and their flare roads appear in triplicate. I'm not sure when this started, but it definitely didn't use to happen. Have the numerous recent changes resulted in these checks being called three times per object by accident? -- Charlie

Hi, I'd like to see it commited because I want the old layout of the map back. I don't like the 'a quick and dirty approach', the map looks very ugly now at lower zoom levels, shapes look very distorted and forests are completely gone. It has to be decided, what we want to be the default value. In my patch the default value would be zero, meaning restoring the old behaviour. Others might argument, that a given value improves the map by removing the cluttering, and for a good map the default should be set to a value. What does the majority think? Comments please. Overlays issue

Hi, I tried out the overlays file and came across the following problem: Without overlays roundabouts look different from the normal street types because e.g. my highway=secondary (0x04) is yellow but junction=roundabout has to be 0x0c which is white in my typ file. To change that I tried this: Lines file: junction=roundabout & highway=secondary [0x11f02 road_class=2 road_speed=3 level 4] Overlays file: 0x11f02: 0x0c, 0x04 Then I created a test typ file with a very broad pink 0x0c just to see if the two lines are really there. They are, I can see the 0x04 on top of the 0x0c as expected. BUT: The roundabout is never used for routing now. It is treated as if it was a non-routable line. Do I do something wrong or is the routing info not created properly? I've tried other tag combinations with the same result.

bug in mapsource installer

Hi, I have a question about the nsis mapsource installer. I notice in the nsi file the series-name generated to set the default name for installing the maps in the mapsource register and the default installation folder: !define DEFAULT_DIR "C:\Garmin\Maps\OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define INSTALLER_DESCRIPTION "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define INSTALLER_NAME "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define MAPNAME "test" !define PRODUCT_ID "1" !define REG_KEY "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" Why is this not the family-name? In the map dropdown list in Mapsource, I would like to see the mapname with creation date, (which is the series-name). The default directory and Mapsource registers should be kept the same mapname every time, usually this is always the family name. Can this be changed? Cheers, Minko

Compiling from source on Mac OS - Warning: Could not find resource file "/opt/jars/protobuf-2.3.0/protobuf.jar" to copy.

Hej actually I'm trying to build the jar following to this: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mkgmap/dev But when using "ant dist" I get the following error: "compile: [javac] /Users/railrun/Downloads/osm/mkgmap/build.xml:93: warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds compile-pbf: build: dist: BUILD FAILED /Users/railrun/Downloads/osm/mkgmap/build.xml:212: Warning: Could not find resource file "/opt/jars/protobuf-2.3.0/protobuf.jar" to copy. Total time: 2 seconds " I'm using a Mini Mac with Mac OS X 10.5.8. java version "1.6.0_22" javac 1.6.0_22 I already tried: export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/home Same result. Anybody out there using a Mac and have a solution for this problem?! Martin
