Moin, I have taken a look at the add-pois-to-areas function: The function is implemented in MAPMaker.java (makeAreaPOIs), which means, it is active, AFTER the processing of the osm-data. So without a greater change this function can not be modified to be controlled by action rules during the style controlled osm-data processing. So I tried a limited modification, its not perfekt but for me it is an improvement over the actual implementation. This does not allow to create POIs for areas without the creation of a polygon (as a workaround a transparent polygon can be created). But the modification allows to control the POI generation for each polygon type on its own, i.e. via the style file single polygon types can be selected for the POI generation. My modification disables the add-pois-to-areas command line option, instead the POI generation is now triggered by a new command "add_poi" in the element type definition in the polygon style, e.g.: amenity=bank [0x2f06 level 3 add_poi] Since I am not really familiar with my java environment, I can not provide my modification as a patch, instead you will find the modified files attached to this mail. I have marked my changes with "//TTT-start" and "//TTT-end". Gruss Torsten

[PATCH v1] MapElement copy loses location information

The MapElement copy constructor does not copy the attribute field which contains the location inforamtion country, city, zip, street, phone etc. The patch fixes that. WanMil

Countries issues

Hello, I built a map using us_midwest extract from Geofabrik and have 5 countries listed in the country list on my Etrex Vista: Country Israel Mongolia Ukraine United States Country seems to be when there is no info and I am fine with that. US is OK but I do not understand the other three. Below are example of cities that show up under those countries: Israel: Abbells Corners, Wis. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/153786773 Mongolia: Basswood Grove, Minn. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/151919152 Ukraine: Ackworth, Iowa http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/151408706 Why does it happen? maps with diacritic symbols

hi. i'm terribly sorry if this is a silly question, but i've searched & asked around, but so far - failed to solve the problem. i'm trying to generate maps for garmin etrex vista hcx that would contain entities with diacritic symbols (more specifically, map of latvia). i've tried specifying several charsets (utf-8, iso-8859-13, cp-1257 and latin1), but with all of them symbols come out not as expected. with utf-8, cp- and iso- they are garbled in different ways, with latin1 they seem to be transcoded to basic characters. i tried mkgmap 1625 and 1846. any hints on how could i get a map on that device with proper diacritic characters ? ideally utf-8, as i might put maps crossing country borders on it, but at least latvian chars would be enough for the start :) while i'm here, i also tried lowercase option - it mostly worked except for labels on roads where all lowercase symbols seemed to be replaced by underscores. is that something that can be improved with mkgmap, or is it a quirk of the garmin device ? thanks in advance. -- Rich

Edge 705 finds no streets with r1877, without --index

I have always compiled my map without --index. Since the index branch merge, my Edge 705 does not list any streets. My scripts are at http://www.polkupyoraily.net/osm/. I build the map layer and the --gmapsupp separately. Both runs use --latin1, roughly like this: java -jar mkgmap.jar -c mkgmap.args java -jar mkgmap.jar --gmapsupp --latin1 *.img mkgmap.args contains this and the map tiles: charset: latin1 route: net: max-jobs: adjust-turn-headings: remove-short-arcs: drive-on-right: check-roundabouts: check-roundabout-flares: report-dead-ends: 2 add-pois-to-areas: link-pois-to-ways: country-abbr: FIN country-name: Finland generate-sea: multipolygon Could I have my precious street name index back, please? :-) Or does this need --index now? I am not planning to add --index to my options until it can generate the full gmapsupp.img in the device format, without MapSource conversion. Best regards, Marko

Splitter hangs when processing pbf with 1 thread only

When processing pbf file with splitter on single processor computer, processing never finishes. If my guess is correct, the problem is in the endMap function of the SplitProcessor class. Process hangs on line 176 because of blocking of the toProcess queue. The queue is not processed with the inner OSMWriterWorker class. Inundated tile with no coastline
