(well first excuse me for the first email with not configured email service...) Hi, I just started experimenting with mkgmap and hit a bug. When I try to compile map with --tdbfile switch and use overview-mapname option with text string instead of 8 digit number mkgmap create the project. The detail .img file is OK, but the overview .img and .tdb files both have a problem because there is wrong coded data. In overview .img file (in this case Bulgaria.img): inner file names are not digits but the name BulgariaRGN, BulgariaLBL and so on. In .tdb file there is an mistake. For easier explanation here is the dump from a quick hacked tdb file decoder: ##### 0x42 0x25(37) Overview map:00000000 parent:00000000 latN:0x0000781f, lonE:0x0000a014, latS:0x0000501d, lonW:0x0000e80f txt:Overview Map ##### 0x4c 0x9a(154) Detail map:35900001 parent:63240000 latN:0x0094711f, lonE:0x003c9e14, latS:0x00e4531d, lonW:0x008ce80f txt:Bulgaria OpenStreetMap (35900001) As you can see in section 0x42 the overview file is listed with number and parent both 00000000, in section 0x4c the parent number is the default map number 63240000. In the applied patch I am trying to fix this behaviour by introducing new parameter overview-mapnumber to separate overview map name from the internal map number because MapSource allows to have overview and tdb file with text name instead of 8 digit number. [PATCH v1] - allow RNP type to be set on a road-per-road basis

OK Felix, here's something to play with. This patch allows you to specify the garmin type of a road's RNP using a mkgmap:rnptype tag. You can then set that tag in a style file when you match some other tag values. Like this (silly) example that makes the RNP generated for a footway to be a zoo: highway=footway {add mkgmap:rnptype=0x2c07; add access = no; add foot = yes} [0x16 road_class=0 road_speed=0 resolution 23] Alternatively, you could add that tag directly into the OSM XML or even pre-process the OSM XML to add the tag conditionally. The patch also contains a couple of other un-related changes that will be committed separately if they are OK. Cheers, Mark

Francois maybe I was too "criptic" in my first answer. if you downloaded the package you will find some typ files to start with. They are in \CreateIMG\Bin\typ\. Internet is also full of other examples (but watch to the license before distributing derived works). The typ file called drivemap-923.typ is my own (derived from free stuff). The on-line typ editor allows you to upload a typ file, watch the graphic data stored in the typ and then it will allow you to change them as you like In the package you will also find the styles. I prepared one (drivemap) that matches the drivemap-923 type file. The styles are in \CreateIMG\Bin\resources\styles\... You will understand easily that: for each garmin code defined in the style (example 0x01 for Major HighWay) a corresponding graphical draw scheme may be present in the typ file. Everithing up to now is OS independent and works in linux too. The typ files can be either loaded in MapSource (windows) together with the img files or shall be joined with the gmapsupp.img in order to be used by the Garmin GPS. I do not know how to join files in linux but I guess that mkgmap (linux) can join the typ file and the gmapsupp.img (I do not know how very well). Of course, if you use only standard garmin codes in the style, the typ file is not mandatory (it is optional) and I actually have never uploaded it in my garmin since I only use standard codes. change/include the --find-highway-pois to create POIs based on attributes

Would it be difficult as a feature request to change the --find highway pois code, that it becomes possible to display POI based on for example bicycle=no? That would be a great feature if you couple it with a POI type that is not searchable. Of course more icons based on rules should be possible. (I would like bicycle=no only to be displayed on road types: xxx, yyy, zzz).

When I try to compile map with tdbfile and use overview-mapname option with text string 'Bulgaria' instead of 8 digit number mkgmap generate a map without complaining(?!). The detail .img file is OK, but the overview .img and .tdb files both have a problem because there is misalignment of the data. in overview .img file(in this case Bulgaria.img): inner file names are not digits but the name BulgariaRGN, BulgariaLBL and so on. in .tdb file there is an mistake. I think I can confirm what said here. My nuvi 255 seems to learn the speed I drive on each road (with impact on routing decision next time I drive the same area).
