Version 1329 was commited by markb on 2009-10-28 10:00:15 +0000 (Wed, 28 Oct 2009) Added --max-flare-length-ratio option. --max-flare-length-ratio=NUM When checking flare roads, ignore roads whose length is greater than NUM (an integer) times the distance between the nodes on the roundabout that the flare roads connect to. Using this option with a value of at least 5 will cut down the number of legitimate roads that are flagged as flare road problems. Default value is 0 (disabled) because it's not a completely reliable heuristic.

highway-symbol and name

Hello, the style-file called "lines" contains something like this: highway=secondary {name '${ref|highway-symbol:oval} ${name}' | '${ref|highway-symbol:oval}' | '${name}' } Can you explain me how this should work? I would expect to see somewhere the name of the street, but in Mapsource you can only see the ref of the street (as tooltip holding the mouse pointer over the street). Also the etrex shows me routing information like "ref to ref", but no street name. I think in Germany it's a good idea to show routing information only as ref for highway=motorway and highway=primary. I have never seen the ref for the other streets like K39, L273 and so on at the road signs. Thanks for helping. Ralf

[PATCH v5] - drive on left + roundabout direction checking

v5 - added --check-roundabouts option to explicitly enabled roundabout checking/reversing. Not had much feedback on this yet, anyone (apart from Dermot) tried it? Even if you don't drive on the left (almost the whole world?) you may care to try out the roundabout checking. About 3% of all the GB roundabouts had the incorrect direction (plus a lot of other problems that would break the routing). ------------ v4 - improved quality of direction detection ------------ v3 - now reverses the order of the points in roundabouts that have the wrong direction so that routing is more likely to succeed. ------------ v2 - now prints OSM URL of first point in dodgy roundabout. ------------ As suggested, moved from rhd to dol. Two options are now available --drive-on-left and --drive-on-right. By default, you should not have to specify either because mkgmap now determines the side of the road to drive on from the direction of the first roundabout it processes. But if you don't like its choice, you can specify one of these options to override it. Also, it now issues a warning for each roundabout it finds that appears to go in the wrong direction. I just got 720 warnings when I processed the GB map so either there is a problem with the code or there is a lot of duff roundabouts. I checked a handful of them and they were all wrong. Please give it a go and if you find any of the warnings to be wrong, please post the OSM URL of the roundabout in question. Mark

Combination of --generate-sea and --remove-short-arcs flooded Iceland between 25th and 26th October

The map I generate of Iceland with mkgmap and --genarate-sea and --remove-short-arcs got flooded between 25th ond 26th October. If I just use the --generate-sea option the map is not --remove-short-arcs I get a lot of RoadNetwork warnings but the map is not flooded. One more error message

Hi Mark, The error message WARNING (RestrictionRelation): Turn restriction 113509 unknown member role '' lacks coordinates. It could get a position from a participating node or way, couldn't it? Failing that, it could at least display the URL http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/113509, couldn't it? Best regards, Marko

Sea ploygon problem

To Christian Gawron, Hello, I tried to generate the sea for Ireland with geofabrik file and it does not work as expected. For example, small islands in the Clew Bay are not well rendered (in the north of Connemera on west coast). Some islands are filled with a sea polygon, but what it may be new for you, it depends on zoom level (I tested it with Mapsource). David

To Felix Hartmann Resolution 24 contains the most detailed leveol of details you can use in a map. Resolution 23 is a bit less detailed, and so on. That is why resolution 13 contains far less data than resolution 16. But if you mean by "24-13" all resolutions included in the interval [24;13], it is probably a bug.

The same value is placed in the mps file in the location that was called area-name. So I am removing overview-description (which was never documented anyway) and using area-name instead.
