It used to do one adjustment, which was to ensure that the side road heading change relative to the heading of the outgoing main road segment was greater than some minimum amount. It now also ensures that the side road heading change relative to the incoming main road segment is also greater than some minimum amount. Furthermore, an optional bit mask can be provided to choose which of these adjustments are enabled: --adjust-turn-headings[=BITMASK] Optional BITMASK (default value 3) allows you to specify which adjustments are to be made (where necessary): 1 = increase angle between side road and outgoing main road 2 = increase angle between side road and incoming main road

[PATCH v2] - handle "anti-islands"

v2 - now checks to see if an anti-island is surrounded by water or land. If surrounded by water, it is converted back into an island (tagged with the land tag) and a warning message is issued. Tested with the GB map, it detected a handful of anti-islands that should have been islands but their points were in the wrong order (backwards). --------------- This patch extends the sea generation stuff to cope with anti-islands (water inside, land outside and, presumably, where the anti-treasure is hidden). Anti-islands are tagged natural=water (you can't use natural=sea because it will be beneath the surrounding land polygon). Note that if your map contains any islands whose direction is incorrect, they will now be filled with water. To help find such islands, a warning message is output when an anti-island is discovered. The upside is that if your map contains anti-islands whose direction is correct, they will now become visible. Mark

how to get --generate-sea working?

Hello list, I am the developer of the All in one Garmin map. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/All_in_one_Garmin_Map At the moment I try to make some garmin maps for haiti with mkgmap. I use the geofabrik-extrakt of Haiti: http://labs.geofabrik.de/haiti/latest.osm.bz2 The Problem is, that I am not able to make the damn sea blue! Yes, I have read many many threads from this list about the generate-sea option, but things change rapidly and threads get really long. I thought that I understand how the different options work, but I am still not able to get this sea stuff to run. I use the latest mkgmap svn version. I used --generate-sea=extend-sea-sectors and defined a rule in polygons-style-file: natural=sea [0x32 resolution 10] But it doesn't work for Haiti. So I give the --generate-sea=polygons,extend-sea-sectors a try, and added a natural=land [0x27 resolution 10] rule in polygons file. I mapped a color with my typfile to this garmintype. But again - I couldn't get it to work. I really don't know what the problem is. The ocean looks like land. Please can somebody help me and tell me what to do to use the --generate-sea stuff correctly with haiti extract? Thank you! (And yes - I checked, that the whole coastline is present in the osm-file!) If you have time, please try this patch without the other patch I posted earlier today (the one that got rid of the warning by allowing the merge to be done). If successful, I intend to commit both this patch and the one that does the merge because they are both useful. Mark

Polygon with barrier problem

Hi I'm new to the joys of creating my custom styles & renderings. Using -r1505. WinXp I have a landuse=farmyard polygon with, a barrier=wall additional tag. This barrier wasn't an additional way drawn around the perimeter of the polygon, but with the barrier=wall key added as an extra tag. The problem is it only renders the barrier, the polygon being transparent. I have other landuse=farmyard polygons without the barrier tag & they render correctly. Using this command: java -Xmx512M -ea -jar mkgmap.jar --remove-short-arcs --gmapsupp "Contours.img" --transparent --style-file="c:\dwgs\Programs\GPS All\Garmin Profile" --family-id=42 M000002.TYP Barrier_test.osm In my line style: barrier=wall In my polygon style: landuse=farmyard & barrier=wall landuse=farmyard What do I need to do to get it to render? I have now tested this and the installer does include the TYP file in the registry.
