Merging the exits branch?

Hi, I would like to merge the exits branch. It makes it possible to show the name of motorway exits on Garmin units. Up to now the exits are processed when the option process-destination is set and if you change a few rules in the style. Shall I add another option to en/disable it? If you don't have the rules in the style the only thing that is changed are two additional points in each exit. This might be visible due to the limited Garmin map resolution. One open point is that exits and motoway-junctions cannot be distinguished and therfore only exits from motorways are processed. At the moment I have no time to continue that. So I want to have your opinions: Merge it? Extra option for process-exits? WanMil

splitter and multiple files

I have been using splitter with multiple files for a long time. Recently, I updated and got an error This command works: java -enableassertions -Xmx3072m -jar splitter.jar --output=pbf --max-nodes=1000000 us-northeast.osm.pbf This command errors: java -enableassertions -Xmx3072m -jar splitter.jar --output=pbf --max-nodes=1000000 us-northeast.osm.pbf LINCOLN_buildings_missing_from_osm.osm Splitter version 282 compiled 2013-01-17T19:58:41-0500 cache= description= geonames-file= keep-complete=true mapid=63240001 max-areas=512 max-nodes=1000000 max-threads=8 (auto) mixed=false no-trim=false output=pbf output-dir= overlap=auto polygon-file= precomp-sea= problem-file= problem-report= resolution=13 split-file= status-freq=120 stop-after=dist write-kml= --keep-complete is not supported for multiple input files. Please execute splitter once for each file. But I am not giving the keep-complete option. Also, if I split separately, is there some way to merge into tiles (these input files overlap)?

[PATCH v1] Optimize filters for shapes

Hi, while working on the mp_cut branch I observed that some of the filter have some potential for improvements when dealing with shapes. 1st change: The RemoveEmpty filter let all shapes pass with at least 3 points. But there must be at least 4 points (1st==last point) to define a shape with a non zero area. 2nd change: The RoundCoordsFilter does not care if an area is rounded to a line which happens quite often. The patch tries to remove the line parts. The img file size is reduced slightly (~1%) using this patch. Anyhow I think there is more improvement possible. I have attached two gpx files. Bye the way the patch contains some commented lines that creates the GPX files for each polygon treated by the patch. 11315_16_org.gpx is the input polygon to the RoundCoordsFilter and 11315_16.gpx is the result (using the patch). Some possible improvements: * Straight lines sometimes contain more that one point and it should be easily possible to remove these additional points. * The filtered polygon sometimes still contains lines which are not removed by patch because the overlapping lines do not contain the same points. You can see this in the attached gpx in the upper middle of the right polygon block. * The filtered polygon could be simplified and sometimes split into more separate polygons which are now connected by a line. * Better resolution dependend filtering? I don't have time to do these improvements but maybe I could give some ideas what can be done. So if you anyone of you has time and fun to play with the filters just do it! Thanks WanMil

Hi, I wanted to play a little bit with the PrecompSeaGenerator today, but I fail to compile and use it. Looks like for this my Java knowledge isn't good enough. I have the necessary optional jars, but how can I compile the optional java code? how to use diacritical marks / accents in style file

I noticed that the style file rules (sometimes?) ignore diacritical marks or accents. For instance I want to add a rule to render a bigger lakes in lower resolution, like lake Geneva: this didnt work: natural=water & name="Lac Léman" [0x3d resolution 16] only this works: natural=water & name:en="Lake Geneva" [0x3d resolution 16] Same for name:de=Neuenburgersee (works) name="Lac de Neuchâtel" (didnt work) Is there a way to use those accents in the style file rules?

Oh yes on the GPS device I see few characters but the lijmit of 75 characters is only on MapSource. BaseCamp display much more of 75 characters.
