Hi! When compiling map using rules from marine style, I get following errors. Hi all, right after the merge to trunk I noticed that the split algo is not fully predictable (and it never was). It is possible that a file is split very well with a max-nodes=x and much worser with max-nodes=x-1000 or max-nodes=x+1000 This also means that the new --num-tiles option may not work with e.g. --num-tiles=1000 for Europe. I may also disable the support for polygons in combination with --num-tiles. I think nobody needs this and the calculation time can be extreme. I try to find a better algo, in the meantime you may try to increase or decrease max-nodes a little bit if splitter doesn't find a good split. Debugging city/state indexing

Is it possible to see how mkgmap is indexing some objects? (for example, how it's assigning a street to a city and state). Does it use the is_in tag or it's able to use relations? (and if yes, how do we specify what is an state relation, a city, etc)

Hi all, I think r383 in the refactoring branch is ready for merge to trunk: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/download/splitter-refactoring-r383.zip Changes to r381 in trunk: - new libs are used, make sure to install the complete package, not just splitter.jar! error handling in splitter

Hi all, I noticed that splitter is quite relaxed regarding error handling ;-) For example, all kinds of I/O errors are catched and may produce stack traces, but processing continues with more or less useless results. Time finished: Wed May 14 08:24:16 CEST 2014 Total time taken: 0s I think splitter should be changed so that it stops immediately with rc 1 if - an input file is missing or can't be read (e.g. invalid numbers, corrupted binary files, etc.) - an output file can't be written (no access rights, disk full, etc) and a useful error message in stdout and stderr. I try to code it like this in the new refactoring branch. I also try to code a new log handling, so that debug info is written to its own file. Gerd

Is it okay to remove the support and print something like "Error: Support for overlapping tiles in split-files was removed in version r36x." or should splitter print a warning to stderr like "Warning : Support for overlapping tiles will be removed in future releases" for a while ? certain highway names are not compiled in the map

Using the default style in mkgmap-r3265 the map doesn't know the names of the residential highway Altcotta (http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/31130257 ). But it knows the name of the pedestrian multipolygon named Altcotta ( http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/977290) Does anyone has a clue about this?

path in template.args-file

Hi, I just realized that the paths in the template.args file is interpreted by mkgmap as relative to template.args file. Is this behaviour intended or shouldn't it be relative to the path, from which mkgmap is called from, as every other path in mkgmap? The template.args-file is pretty old, so maybe changing the behaviour isn't that good. But maybe mkgmap could first look for the file relative to template.args file and if there is nothing found then in the file, where mkgmap is called from? Henning
