Hi, Gerd, yes, I got a default description in the final IMG file, when I check the map properties in the device. Maybe not a splitter problem at all. I'll work on this more carefully. Maybe there's something wrong in the build script. Merge unicode branch

Hi I'd like to merge the unicode branch. There are a fair few differences, but I think that they do not affect anything that currently works. I've tested a map with code-page=1250 and the branch and trunk results are identical. Currently code-page=65001 in trunk does not work at all so even if there are remaining bugs in the unicode support it should be an improvement. I'll merge it in a few days if there are no reports of regressions with the single byte code pages. ..Steve

For backward compatibility you don't have to quote arguments that contain spaces or symbols but its a good idea to do so from now on. The documentation has been updated to follow this guideline. You can now use a pipe symbol in a regular expression which there was no way of doing before. Eg: ${name|subst:"(Dr|Doctor|Dokter) ~>Doktor "}

splitter --description argument not working

People, The --description option in the newest stable splitter release is not working. A default description is being given: "OSM Open Street Map". The description is useful for users select one amongst several OSM map sets that one may wish to install in the device. The command I'm issuing is as follows (Linux shell): $SPLITTER_CMD --description="OSM Brazil South Region" --mapid=99990001 --output-dir=$HOME/osm_br_south $HOME/pbfs/brazil-latest.osm.pbf thanks in advance, Paulo

Customised Style Files - <finalize> section

To make minor customisations of the default style, it is necessary to unpack the files and edit them, e.g. by putting an include near the start of each file. If I understand rightly, the <finalize> section is executed for all matches, even if they have already been matched previously. Am I right here? If this is the case, the include could appear in the <finalize> section and would override earlier rules. It would save unpacking and editing each file if the <finalize> section always contained an include of a customisation file, which the user could specify with a command line option (e.g. --user-custom-style=path). If this did not exist, it could be ignored or point to a default dummy file. Is this a useful and feasible idea? Unicode index and searching

Hi I've been working on implementing unicode sorting so that we can have a global index that supports address search with full unicode support. I've tested with a map mixing Germany and Poland and it seems to work at first sight, but I'm sure someone will find a bug quickly enough :) Get the latest from the unicode branch at the bottom of the download page: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/download/mkgmap-unicode-r3284.zip try with --code-page=65001 to enable unicode. It should be OK with Greek, Arabic and Cyrillic characters too. But not with Chinese characters at the moment. ..Steve
