Hi all, - Tested with ‘etrex 30’ and (very old) ‘etrex Vista Cx’. - Issue with my last map of France: big file (perhaps the problem), 1.6 Go, but not with the map for French Guiana, 4 Mo. - mkgmap-r3620 On the devices, I can search an address, with city's name, country. All is found. But if I search with ‘Where To?’ -> Cities, I found nothing ! Files, options are the same. Just, France gmapsupp is bigger ! option to omit road refs from index

Hi Gerd, please find attached a patch that adds a new option --omit-highway-refs-from-index, that causes labels containing highway shields to be omitted from the address index. Please try and commit if you are happy with it. Note, I am on holiday for the next week, so if it needs any changes, I will look at it when I get back. Regards, Mike

mkgmap creation problem

Hi, I try to compile europe maps but I receive the following error: mkgmap Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: I tested this procedure on laptop and my PC. Both has a powerful configuration (8GB) My PC has java version:java version "1.7.0_79" (Oracle) with Ubuntu OS on my laptop I use the newest 1.8.0_45 (Oracle) with Ubuntu OS I'm using the following command: java -jar -Xmx4096m mkgmap/mkgmap.jar --mapname=43000001 --route --add-pois-to-areas --tdbfile --index --bounds=dane/bounds_20150620.zip --remove-ovm-work-files=true --output-dir=/tmp/map_compiled --precomp-sea=dane/sea_20150630.zip --make-opposite-cycleways --style-file=mkgmap-style-sheets-read-only/styles/world --verbose --gmapsupp -c map_splitted/template.args Please suggest what else can I do with this problem Regards, Maciej Moczulski

Sea and Bounds files

I have noticed that the links to pre-compiled bounds and sea files at http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/download/mkgmap.html point to dated versions rather than the 'latest' version. Is there any reason for this? "too many restrictions" mkgmap message

Hi Steve, I'm getting the error "too many restrictions" when compiling one of my maps with the as you can see in the out put bellow: java -Xmx10g -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -jar ..\Ferramentas\mkgmap.jar --style-file=..\Ferramentas\mkgmap-style-tracksource --license-file="..\txt\Licenca-TRC.txt" -c TS-Brasil.args Time started: Thu Jul 02 04:30:41 BRT 2015 Bad file format: 90002054.osm.gz too many restrictions Number of MapFailedExceptions: 0 Number of ExitExceptions: 0 Time finished: Thu Jul 02 04:35:14 BRT 2015 Total time taken: 273335ms And I saw in the mkgmap code that this error was thrown in TableC.getOffsetSize method written by you. Could you or anyone tell me what should be wrong in my map to cause this problem? It looks like a specific problem in one of my restrictions. But what kind of problem? I don't know what I must find in the map to fix the problem. Thank you. Best regards.

Object labels and zoom levels

I have the following problem in my maps: at low zoom levels MapSource renders the name of some highway=* objects in places such as villages or cities, but it doesn't show the names of the place=* object. Showing the name of a street in a village you don't know which one is doesn't seem to be very useful. Is there a way to control zoom level at which labels are rendered, independently from the resolution of the named object in the style? Is it possible to give precedence to place=* labels instead of highway=* ones? See attached screenshots of the same area at 5 km zoom level and high detail level from my maps, openfiestmap and openmtbmap to note the difference.

Version mkgmap-r3620 was committed by gerd on Wed, 10 Jun 2015 improve throughput in HousenumberGenerator - shuffle road points before adding to (unbalanced) k-d-tree, this drastically reduces tree depth and thus improves both the creation speed and the search speed - create only one k-d-tree The positive effect is rather small in areas like Germany, rather big in Africa (many long roads, few housenumbers)
