AssertionError on turn restriction

When I enable assertions (-ea) in my java command, mkgmap-r3300 is not able to produce one tile and gives an java.lang.AssertionError. I found out that the problem was this turn restriction relation, with type=restriction:motorcar restriction=only_straight_on http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3490966 In my relation style file I have the following line, to ignore those restrictions in my bike map: type=restriction:motorcar {delete type} I dont know if it's a bug in mkgmap or in my styles but it will produce no errors without this line, but then the restriction are applied and that's not what is intended. If I change the line into type=restriction:motorcar {delete 'type=restriction:motorcar'} then I get no assertion error. Now maybe this relation is a bad case because mkgmap seems to ignore it at all (via ways instead of via-points?) so I have adapted the relation a bit in JOSM to make it work with one 'from' way, one via-point and one 'to' way. http://mijndev.openstreetmap.nl/~ligfietser/test/map.osm I use in my relation file this line type=restriction:motorcar {delete 'type=restriction:motorcar'} Result is that in motorcar mode, the turn restriction is still active. So there is still something missing in the mkgmap code, also {delete restriction} didnt help here either, looks like that those lines are completely ignored in the relation file here?

Name Substitution not correctly working

There seems to be a problem with Chinese Tonemarks... e.g. on http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/244080668 name:zh_pinyin ~ '.*Shì' { set name:zh_pinyin='${name:zh_pinyin|subst:"Shì=>"}'; echo "rule working" } nor does name:zh_pinyin ~ '.*Shi' { set name:zh_pinyin='${name:zh_pinyin|subst:"Shi=>"}'; echo "rule 2 working" } work. 2. How can I remove parentheses from the name? name=* { set name='${name|subst:"(=>"'} name=* { set name='${name|subst:")=>"'} Is not working. Basecamp shows series-name as blank on MacOSX 10.9

The series name for the map I build shows as blank in Basecamp's map selection dropdown on OSX 10.9. When I install the same map on OSX 10.5 Basecamp shows the name as normal. I have tried rebuilding the map with various names for --series-name="whatever" but it still happens. Has anyone solved this problem?

How can I test if "(" or ")" is part of name

I have a problem that I cannot escape brackets when trying to find out if they are part of the name... name ~ '.*(' { } is not working of course. However ^ is not able to escape a bracket... name ~ '.*^(' { } Is there any way to find out if there is a () in a name? (the reason for this is that I want to know in Japan if the name is only in Japanese, or in Japanese (English). -- keep on biking and discovering new trails Felix openmtbmap.org & www.velomap.org

Incorrect compilation of grid lines

I have a file containing the British National Grid lines, as printed on Ordnance Survey maps. This can be found at http://www.rogercalvert.me.uk/osm/GBGrid/GBGrid.zip (this contains two files, they are the same except for the addition of the 'version' tag in the GBGrid06.osm file). I compile this file with mkgmap and overlay it on my GPS map. This works correctly with mkgmap 2654 and It displays correctly in JOSM. With mkgmap version 3241, the lines are misaligned and out of position. The behaviour is the same on MapSource, BaseCamp and my device. No error messages are produced. (I have not used any versions of mkgmap in between these two). My style file allocates codes in the 0x10300 range to these lines, but the effect is the same when I use code 0x21 (contour) for all lines. Attached are screen dumps for a small part of the map, from JOSM, mkgmap 2654 and mkgmap 3241, and also the batch file I used to compile it. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Merge maps with mkgmap

Hi, i am having problem with merging garmin image files that i have generated from osm. I have also generated a image with contourlines. I am trying to merge them together, and there is no problem merging them, but the name of the map changes to "OSM street map" and there is only 1 "layer" or what they should be called, showing in a Garmin GPS unit. I have merged maps together a lot of times and then i have got like Countrymap as one option and Contourlines as another option in the map settings in gps unit. But now i don't get it working, maybe i am missing something. splitter: No solution found

Hi, splitter 412 failed, when processing extract for South America. I got following message: Warning: No solution found for partition (-60.0018310546875,-137.362060546875) to (29.783935546875,- 24.9993896484375) with 56 760 324 nodes South America data was downloaded from geofabric.de: http://download.geofabrik.de/south-america-latest.osm.pbf I have made some tests with following command line: splitter.jar --stop-after=split --resolution=16 --max-nodes=600000 south-america-latest.osm.pbf Splitting was done correctly with splitter r395 but failed with r411 and r412. POI icons for high and standard resolution devices

Greetings, Is it possible to design a TYP file such that we get 48x48 POI icons for high-res devices and 24x24 ones for lower resolution PNDs like Nuvi 255w? I know it is possible for NT maps such as City Navigator maps since I've seen the same map installed in both device classes and there seem to be some kind of automatic icon switching. My point is that whether it is possible to compile a single gmapsupp file against a single TYP file that works on both resolutions with mkgmap. So far, the obvious solution is to compile HD and SD versions of the same map, each compiled against different TYPs. I think this is of some importance because everything has to be done twice: compile time, tests, TYP maintenance, upload, FTP quota usage, ... not to mention that the end user may not readily know which version one has to download. all the best, Paulo Carvalho

Hi all, attached is a patch that addresses the problem described be Roger Calvert: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/Incorrect-compilation-of-grid-lines-tp580950… The problem is caused by the fact that we use a 2D formula for objects which are on a spherical surface. In most cases the error is very small and can be ignored, but sometimes it isn't. We use the formula to decide whether a point is important or not, so I decided that to keep all points where the error is big. A better way would be to use a correct formula in that cases, but I am not clever enough to code the correct formula in Java :-( @Roger: Please check if the results are ok for you. BTW: osmconvert seems to have a problem with some coordinates, e.g. <node id='90053000500' lat='54.3788936' lon='1.67E-05' version='1'/> is interpreted as <node id="90053000500" lat="54.3788936" lon="1.67" version="1"/> Don't know if the OSM api allows the exponent format?
