Previously that would be an error, but in fact it can easily be handled. The same is true for numeric operators such as greater than or not equals and now all of these are supported.

I use the --add-pois-to-areas --pois-to-areas-placement options for mkgmap but the POIs generated ends up in the centre despite one node on the perimeter of the polygon in question is tagged with entrance=main. Can anyone confirm this option works?

weird behavior of routing

Hi! I have another problem with mkgmap: When rendering primary roads this way: highway=primary {name '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 16 ] everything works great But when I render roads this way (to have different names on different levels) highway=primary {name '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 16-16 continue] highway=primary {name '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 18-18 continue] highway=primary {name '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 20-20 continue] highway=primary {name '${name}' | '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 22-22 continue] highway=primary {name '${name}' | '${ref}'} [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 24-24] Routing on such map doesn't work - Garmin (MapSource or hardware devices) don't see primary roads when trying to calculate way. Instead of proper route you get "straight line" to the nearest secondary road and there it routes you (still not using any primary road). This problem is best visualised using MapSource's "route tool". My map levels are: levels = 0:24, 1:22, 2:20, 3:18, 4:16 When you try to search for a name of such primary road in index - MapSource crashes. Is is problem with mkgmap or I just write my rendering rules wrong? I just want to hide primary roads names on lower zoom levels. best regards Michal Rogala

Hi During the conversation with Kay earlier I realised that it is easily possible to make rules with only complex expressions work. Currently a rule such as the following would give an error: tagname ~ 'blue.*' [ 0x1 ...] tagname < 10 [ 0x1 ...] They can be converted automatically to a form that will work eg: tagname=* & tagname~'blue.*' [ 0x1 ...] The attached patch does this. ..Steve

[PATCH] Accept case-insensitive LineWidth in accordance to other TYP file statements

Hi all. During some tests with the TYP file compiler I stumbled over the issue that the used TYPWiz2 writes the text TYP files in a case as it likes. Converting a TYP file into txt usually uses upper-case, while editing it later converts most statements to lower-case. If mkgmap reads the first one without warnings, it complained about LineWidth in lower-case later. For consistency I have made it case-insensitive also like the other statements. regular expressions in tag tests

Hi all! I want to use a regular expression in a tag test, and I don't know what type of regular expression syntax is used in mkgmap. There is only one example, and it's not enough. My tags are strings made from floating point numbers, in fixed field length with leading spaces, in common RE syntax they would be '\ *[0-9]+\.00' (optional spaces, followed by a point and two zeroes) I want to pick out those with '000', '500', '00' and '50' before the point (doing contours) - of course a modulo operation on the floating point value would also work, but I haven't found that, either... How would I specify that in mkgmap? (P.S. I don't know Java, so please don't tell me it's in 'standard Java notation' ;-) Kay
