Missing foot of T-shaped way

I was browsing the map today, and found out that a way is missing from the map: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/26652955 This is the entry of a dead-end residential street (or, the foot of the T). Shorter ways nearby do show up fine. Both the "hat" and the "foot" of the T carry identical tags, but only the "hat" is visible on the map. The "hat" does make a small knick where the foot should be attached. This is not near any tile border. Any ideas what might be wrong? Is the map tile simply too big? I will refine the map there to see what happens. Marko

[PATCH v1] Performance improvement by removing unused elements before the style processing

Hi, this is another performance improvement: Usually the mkgmap input tiles are larger than the processed bounding box (splitter parameter overlap). So there are much many elements which are processed but thrown away at a late step in mkgmap. The patch tries to remove them much earlier before the style files are processed and before the LocationHook starts (which ignores them but that must also be calculated). The patch contains one drawback: Ways which have all its points outside the bounding box of the tile but which cross the tile are also removed. If that's a point the patch must be improved. Have fun! drive-on-left/right detection broken with max-jobs > 1

While looking through the source code I observed that the drive-on-left/right flag is set statically in the NODHEader class. That means that a threads of one tile modifies this flag of all other tiles. So when compiling a european map with GB included, it's a kind of lottery if the GB areas really have this flag set. Do I miss something? WanMil

VIllages not findable

Since some time ago I'd noticed that villages are not findable neither on MapSource nor on my devices (nuvi 300 and Legend HCx) whereas they could be found before, but did not track it down till now. The change was introduced in rev 1987 to get a bigger size of labels for villages than for hamlets, which seem reasonable (see thread [1] for more information). Could you check if the same negative side effect is affecting you? Could we use a different code (searchable) for villages, keeping the current label size? Hi Steve, I just want to let you know that the gmapsupp-mdr branch works great for me! I tested in on an Oregon 300. I couldn't start with systematic tests but up to now I had no device shutdowns and could find all addresses. Thanks for that great piece of work! WanMil

Upper case Dutch "IJ"

Hi, Is it possible to capitilize the Dutch character of Y (spelled as ij) if a (Dutch) name begins with this character?
