Splitter doesn't process pbf data created with osmosis 0.39

Hello, there seems to be a problem with the latest splitter and data in pbf format if it was created with osmosis 0.39. When I am converting a xml file to pbf by callig osmosis 0.39 just with --read-xml and --write pbf parameters, the splitter (called without parameters) says: ------------------------------------------------ Processing data_039.osm.pbf Bounding box 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 in 1 file Time: Sun Sep 18 15:45:48 CEST 2011 Exact map coverage is (0.0,0.0) to (2.1457672119140625E-5,2.1457672119140625E-5) Trimmed and rounded map coverage is (0.0,0.0) to (2.1457672119140625E-5,2.1457672119140625E-5) Splitting nodes into areas containing a maximum of 1.600.000 nodes each... 0 areas: ------------------------------------------------ The output is empty, of course. When I am doing exactly the same but with osmosis 0.38, the splitter doesn't print a Bounding Box, the map coverage is right, and everything works fine: ------------------------------------------------ Processing data_038.osm.pbf in 1 file Time: Sun Sep 18 15:45:32 CEST 2011 Exact map coverage is (48.318986892700195,8.87244701385498) to (48.47125053405762,9.23452377319336) Trimmed and rounded map coverage is (48.2958984375,8.8330078125) to (48.4716796875,9.2724609375) Splitting nodes into areas containing a maximum of 1.600.000 nodes each... Area (48.2958984375,8.8330078125) to (48.4716796875,9.2724609375) contains 6.073 nodes. DONE! 1 areas: Area 63240001 covers (0x225800,0x64800) to (0x227800,0x69800) ------------------------------------------------ The file osmosis 0.39 produces is always 64 bytes larger than the one from osmosis 0.38, independent of the input data. Is this an issue with osmosis 0.39 or with the splitter? Thanks, Michael

The contour data for Germany contains ways with more than 460000 nodes. So in addition to adding timestamp and version every way containing more than 2000 nodes has to be split into smaller pieces. The conversion from osm 0.5 to 0.6 also can be done with osmosis 0.35. Just call it with osmosis --read-xml-0.5 enableDateParsing=no file="data_05.osm" --migrate --write-xml file="data_06.osm" This is adding the missing tags, however it does not split ways containing too many nodes. make opposite cycleways is not working when using Taxi for bicycle-routing

Hi, when using Garmin modes like "Taxi" for special routing (like race-bicycle routing) is there a trick to make "make-opposite-cycleways" working? So that the artifical created way doesn't gets the bicycle but the taxi flags? Chris

Routing - Documentation and Best Practice

Currently I'm working on the routing feature of my garmin maps and run into some problems. I was looking for detailed information concerning routing (incl. best pratice) but couldn't find such a document. Question: Could someone point me to such a documentation or describe "the best practice"? Duplicated rules in default style

It seems there has been some copy/paste goblin resulting in the rules below duplicated in points and polygons default styles. Attached patch fixes them. mkgmap:postal_code!=* & mkgmap:postcode=* { set mkgmap:postal_code='${mkgmap:postcode}' } mkgmap:postal_code!=* & addr:postcode=* { set mkgmap:postal_code='${addr:postcode}' }

Empty map?

Aloha all- I am relatively new to working with mkgmap, so I apologize if I'm doing something really stupid. I am trying to make a routable map of Illinois, in the USA. I was able to do so for Wisconsin without any problem, but with the Illinois osm.bz2 file I downloaded both from cloudmade.com and geofrabrik.de, I get a completely empty map on my Garmin 62st. Here are the parameters I'm using: java -Xmx4000m -jar ~/splitter-r179/splitter.jar illinois.osm.bz2 Then I build the map with: java -jar -Xmx4000M ~/mkgmap-r2012/mkgmap.jar --max-jobs --adjust-turn-headings --ignore-maxspeeds --ignore-turn-restrictions --remove-short-arcs=4 --mapname="Test Illinois" --description="Test Illinois" --net --route --transparent --gmapsupp -c template.args This worked fine for the wisconsin.osm.bz2 file I have, but not Illinois. I downloaded an Illinois map from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/, and it worked perfectly. I searched around for the parameters he's passing to mkgmap, and I built this command from it: java -Xmx2048M -ea -jar ~/mkgmap-r2012/mkgmap.jar --code-page=1252 --name-tag-list=name:en,int_name,name --remove-short-arcs --add-pois-to-areas --make-opposite-cycleways --description='Zesty Ill NL Test' --net --route --series-name='OSM World Routable' --gmapsupp -c template.args But again no joy. Is it possible the splitter parameters are wrong for what I'm trying to do? Thanks for any info, Tacho
