The bug has been reported a number of times (or a similar one anyway) but has proved elusive. Thanks to Andy Allan for tracking down the revision where the problem occurred which lead quickly to the fix.

Control of Anti-aliasing in Lines

If I create a line of example width 1px as a 'bitmap' it is not 'anti-aliased' when displayed on the Garmin (GPSMAP 62s). However, if the 1px line is created as 'line only' on the TYP editor, then the line is 'anti-aliased' and therefore appears thicker at lower zoom levels. This anti-aliasing can be seen if the screen is examined with a magnifying glass. My question is 'can this anti-aliasing be controlled?. For example, could one create a complex pattern line as a bitmap and have it 'anti-aliased' as presently I don't see a way to do this?. Bill.

Fail to build map with r1908 and sea-generator=extend-sea-sectors

Hello, I have a map that built correctly with 1903 which also builds correctly with 1908 if I use sea-generator=multi-polygon but fails to build in r1908 with sea-generator=extend-sea-sectors. Exception introduced in r1725

Hi All, I realised I was having problems with the newest stable and not with an older version, so I went back through and did some bisecting. r1725 appears to cause issues for me when generating large gmapsupp.img files (1.1G, from 293 .img tiles), where it throws Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException at java.nio.ByteBuffer.allocate(ByteBuffer.java:328) at uk.me.parabola.imgfmt.sys.Directory.sync(Directory.java:176) at uk.me.parabola.imgfmt.sys.ImgFS.sync(ImgFS.java:230) at uk.me.parabola.imgfmt.sys.ImgFS.close(ImgFS.java:240) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.combiners.GmapsuppBuilder.onFinish(GmapsuppBuilder.java:119) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.main.Main.endOptions(Main.java:413) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.CommandArgsReader.readArgs(CommandArgsReader.java:126) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.main.Main.main(Main.java:127) r1724 and earlier works fine. Any thoughts? I've seen earlier threads with the same error, but hopefully narrowing it down to the specific commit helps. I've also tested my r1724 image on my eTrex and everything works fine, so the suggestion in one of the earlier threads that the file format only supports 256 sub-images isn't watertight. Routing issue at staring oneway road

Hi, I get some wrong/bad routing results when it comes to a starting onewayroad. Like it is on a crossing like this one: "^": the oneway road "-" & "|": the normal roads whithout oneway "+": the corner point of the roads ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ +--------------- coming from here | | | | | | | | want to get routed to this direction. In this situation my Garmin Dakota 20 is routing me up the oneway part several roads around the block to get to the target just down the street. If you want to see the place at real OSM-Data, take a look to the Node 101581030 and the surrounding 3 roads. This happens to me with r1760 I used usally, but it happens with the newest r1908 as well. For the settings Iam using, you can look at the wiki for may litle personal generation skripts for the All-In-One Garmin Map. splitter error

I was trying to split the europe.osm.pbf file from yesterday, but I got this error: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid block type Tried it with splitter r170 and r171, my OS is windows vista 32bits. I have never have seen this error before, it continues splitting, but the process isnt't finished after 40min as usual (1,5 hrs now running). Could be a bug in the extract?

Omitting ref from named minor roads

A fellow mapper complained that some highways carry a 5-digit ref on the mkgmap-produced map, even though the ref is nowhere to be seen on street signs. OK, mkgmap cannot possibly know that, but I was wondering if we could split this rule in the default style: highway=* {name '${ref} ${name}' | '${ref}' | '${name}' } so that we would assign '${ref} ${name}' only to highway=tertiary, and assign either $name or $ref to lesser roads: highway=tertiary {name '${ref} ${name}' | '${ref}' | '${name}' } highway=* {name '${name}' | '${ref}' } For example, a railway=platform that is also tagged as highway=footway would continue to carry the platform $ref, provided that the way is not named. Would anyone object to this change? Does anyone need to see both $name and $ref on highways lesser than tertiary? Best regards, Marko

What exactly does this error mean and how to fix it

Hi All, I have been going through the mkgmap log fixing problem it's picked up, most are self explanitory but the one below I cannot see how to fix it. I can see the node does share a motorway, not sure what is wrong. 2011/04/05 16:56:42 WARNING (StyledConverter): 63240007.osm.gz: Motorway exit E3 (http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=-37.83159&mlon=145.00286&zoom=17) has no motorway! (either make the exit share a node with the motorway or specify the motorway ref with a exit:road_ref tag)

how to get better error logs during map compile?
