Hello Steve, the text on http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/page/tile-splitter lists some numbers regarding speed and throughput with large files for splitter and mkgmap. I think that r198 is now stable, so the numbers should be reviewed. In fact, it took me quite a long time to understand that many of the isues listed there were (partly) already solved by Scott Crosby when I started looking at the sources. I planned to help with the gmap-mdr branch, but you were too fast ;-) and I am still far away from understanding the complete program. Thanks for this great work, I'll probaby profit on it again when doing my next long bike holidays. failure of splitter on parcel data

I have a file that is the result of translated a shapefile of parcel boundaries obtained from MassGIS using a modified polyshp2osm. The file is in .osm format and has several thousand closed ways, each with a bunch of tags, boundary=parcel and some metadata from the shapefile. Long ago I used to just mix this in to a cloudmade massachusetts extract, split, and then compile with mkgmap. My mkgmap style file has an extra rule to map boundary=parcel to a minor depth contour, so I get think blue lines for the parcel boundaries. At some point, splitter started having trouble with this file. I tried again, with just "stow-lots.osm", and got the following, with splitter just sitting there consuming CPU. I can provide the file to anyone who wants to debug this, but I'm guessing the backtrace might be enough to spot the issue. [PATCH]mkgmap performance

Hello list, attached is a small patch that improves mkgmap throughput. It uses the String.intern() method only in those places where tag info is read from input files. Steve, Have been testing compiler for all types of polygons and polylines and have not come across any issues ; 1) btw it doesn't allow for font=normal (font) 2) Unfortunately,the truecolor poi rendering of say DayXpm="32 32 0 1" Colormode=16 is incorrect and causes mapsource to hangup. somehow, the above gets changed into DayXpm="32 32 0 2" Colormode=32 The length of the colour stream seems to be incorrect - see testmkg.typ I've created my own 16 bit version, testtwz.typ, which gets rendered correctly. Both are in a zip file : www.pinns.co.uk/osm/truecolor.zip I've been using 48x48 16 bit truecolor pois for weeks now on my gps and have not encountered any issues. Keep up the great work! Sub-styles

Hello, I am using Mkgmap 2141. I would like to create a map including the landuse (like the previous style). I am trying to include the "landuse" sub-style, but I am failing for now : * In /mkgmap-r2141/examples/styles/default/info I have added the landuse sub-style : base-style=contours_ft # base-style=location base-style=landuse base-style=waters * I am running Mkgmap with the option --style-file=examples/styles/default/ to be sure that I am using the style I have just modified. * I get the error : at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyleImpl.<init>(StyleImpl.java:140) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyleImpl.readBaseStyle(StyleImpl.java:518) And no map is created.
