add-poi-to-areas: What, if there is already a poi?

Hi! I debugged the zoo in Munich: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.09736&lon=11.55587&zoom=16&layers=B000… in its way there are two entrances tagged with tourism=zoo. These seem to prevent --add-poi-to-areas from creating a poi called "Tierpark Hellabrunn". But when I search in my Garmin for the nearest zoo, I will now just find "Isareingang" and "Flamingoeingang" but not "Tierpark Hellabrunn". This is not so good for a tourist that knows just the name of the zoo. I looked further for other POIs that where not created because there was already one and found e.g. this one: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.062073&lon=11.682696&zoom=18&layers=B0… Here "Hallenbad Riemerling" is tagged twice: one time in the building, second time a separate POI. Would something be against it, to create just no new POI if there is already a POI with this type AND with this name? Dani

Address search doesn't work either on a Nuvi 310 and Dakota 20. Probably the same for Oregon/Colorado models. It pops up with a question of state/province and then it finds nothing.

regression in r1431

Hi list, I found a grave routing difference between mkgmap r1430 and r1431, when I set routing to "bicycle", "shortest route". r1430 (and older) sends me right to my target; r1432 (and newer) meanders around like there's no other things to do than pedaling around in the countryside. Really: a mere 15 kilometer trip will increase to 57 kilometers! I'd guess this is mainly because of: -highway=unclassified [0x06 road_class=1 road_speed=2 resolution 21] +highway=unclassified [0x06 road_class=0 road_speed=3 resolution 21] ... but other factors in r1431 may add to this. As far as I can see from the mailing list, r1431 patch *improves* routing over large distances (see mailing list, messages with subject "Patch for better Autorouting", 2009-12-01 and further). Now what to do? (Maybe it's time to have a separate bicycle routing style in mkgmap?) Best regards, Valentijn

Trying to find out why some POIs are not generated

Hi! I try to find out now why some POIs are not generated from areas. I added: // check if there is not already a poi in that shape log.info("already there: ", poiMap.findPointInShape(shape, pointType, shapeName)); to MapMaker.java and got: 2010/04/08 23:52:48 INFO (MapMaker): ../tiles_muc/63240347.osm.gz: Aktueller shapename: Tierpark Hellabrunn 2010/04/08 23:52:48 INFO (MapMaker): ../tiles_muc/63240347.osm.gz: already there: uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.general.MapPoint@43d122 So this POI prevents mkgmap from making a new one. :But where does it come from? Hi! Is there a howto or manual how to build mkgmap from source? I just downloaded eclipse for Windows and it seems to try to compile but gets tons of errors since there seems to missing something. TIA, Dani

NSIS Problems with 2G limit

Hello, while I'm trying to build an mapsource installer with the --nsis option and makensis for the garmin all in one for europe I get the following error after a while with makensis: Internal compiler error #12345: error mmapping file (2141990789, 4569600) is out of range. Note: you may have one or two (large) stale temporary file(s) left in your temporary directory (Generally this only happens on Windows 9x). ------------------- I will attach the whole ouput from makensis, but I think the problem is, that europe is too big now. The imgs together have a size of 2,1G. Is 2G a fix limit of this nsis stuff or is it a bug somewhere? (Yeah, I know - the bug is windows...) :) Thanks Christoph

Another question to the zoom levels

Hi! In the default style, I find in the options: levels = 0:24, 1:22, 2:20, 3:18, 4:16 But in the files (polygons, lines, points) the following resolutions are used: 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 I think I have read somewhere that just these from the options may be used? Dani

On my "Openfietsmap" a routable cyclemap of the Benelux, I use in the style file highway=pedestrian & area=yes [0x08 road_class=0 road_speed=0 resolution 22 continue] It routes via the borders of pedestrian areas for pedestrians, so whats the difference with this patch? See http://mijndev.openstreetmap.nl/~ligfietser/openfietsmap/Scripts/Styles/lin… for my style definitions. Cheers, Minko
