SVN 1598 gives flooded tiles

Everything works fine with revision 1597. But with 1598, every tile that has any coastline in it becomes completely flooded. This is for a Great Britain map, using multipolygon sea generation (I dislike having to choose between sea, land, and the actual feature I'm trying to select!). Longitude/latitude were exchanged and so the land polygon was completely removed because the mp code thought it would be located completely outside the bounding box. comments from v3: I have slightly modified it compared to v2. Just some minor improvements and the merging to the patches that have been already committed. Summary: Reduce number of cuts in multipolygon processing Reduces the number of cuts performed by multipolygon processing by combining the cut of several polygons in one cut instead of n cuts. This speeds up the processing for multipolygons consisting of lots polygons. WanMil

Level info wrong in mkgmap --help=options

java -jar mkgmap.jar --help=options reports --levels=levels code Change the way that the levels on the map correspond to the zoom levels in the device. See customisation help. The default is the equivalent of: "0=24, 1=22, 2=21, 3=19, 4=18, 5=16" although this may change. But in the source code I see /src/uk/me/parabola/mkgmap/general/LevelInfo.java public static final String DEFAULT_LEVELS = "0:24, 1:22, 2:20, 3:18, 4:16"; Garvan

mkgmap gives java error

Hello! I got my first GPS recently, a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx, and am now trying to create maps for it via mkgmap, but am having problems. I'm running Debian Lenny, with mkgmap-r1600 (current version) and Sun Java 6. My machine is 32-bit AMD with 2GB memory. I managed OK (using an older mkgmap version) to convert and upload a few small city maps (Dublin, Barcelona, etc.) but can't manage (using either mkgmap version) a bigger map, all of Ireland, which I got from Geofabrik (http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/) The .osm file is 318MB in size. When I run mkgmap (with no options) I get an error, which starts as follows: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange(Arrays.java:3209) at java.lang.String.<init>(String.java:216) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.xni.XMLString.toString(XMLString.java:185) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.util.XMLAttributesImpl.getValue(XMLAttributesImpl.java:537) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.xinclude.XIncludeHandler.processAttributes(XIncludeHandler.java:2030) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.xinclude.XIncludeHandler.startElement(XIncludeHandler.java:907) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.XMLNSDocumentScannerImpl.scanStartElement(XMLNSDocumentScannerImpl.java:400) I then used splitter (current version) to split the map file, which resulted in a single file being produced, 142MB after unpacking (less than half the size of the original!?), and submitted that to mkgmap, but it bombed out again (though with a different error). Can anybody suggest what I might need to do to get it working? Thanks very much. Tony.

[PATCH v1] - sleep-on-startup

I recently discovered jvisualvm and have been using it to profile mkgmap. One thing I haven't discovered yet is how to profile an application from the start - its trivial to attach to an already running java app using the gui but if it's already running, you could miss some useful info. So, the attached patch is a little kludge that lets you start mkgmap but then it immediately pauses for a little while (long enough to attach jvisualvm to it and turn on the profiling, etc.) before it gets down to work. To use this, just add -Dsleep-on-startup=30 or similar to your Java args. Can anyone think of a better way of achieving the same goal? Mark

how to differentiate road types with zoom levels?

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to use two different layouts for the same road on different zoom levels. For instance a small 1pix line on lower zoom levels, and a wider 3pix line with dark borders on the highest level. In the TYP file I use 0x00 road for the first, and 0x05 for the second. In the Style file I use: (highway=tertiary | highway=tertiary_link) [0x00 road_class=3 road_speed=3 resolution 23-21 continue] (highway=tertiary | highway=tertiary_link) [0x05 road_class=3 road_speed=3 resolution 24] You can see the result here: http://sites.google.com/site/openfietsmap/zoomlevels The processed map looks cool in Mapsource: thin lines when zoomed out, bigger lines when zoomed in. However, the routing is now messed up (because of the continue statement?) Is there a way to solve this? Another question is how to adjust the road labels, for instance I like to show on the map only the ref. number of the road, like "N224" (without using highway plates) and on the tooltip label if I point it with the mouse, "streetname (ref)" like "Zeisterweg (N224)". Hi! This is just cosmetics but I'd like to know what I have to add in the typ file that grade 3,4. etc tracks do not get the labels "grade 3", etc in my device. TIA. Dani
