Lower case option & special codes

I don't understand how "lower-case" option works. It is fine when I build a map from an OSM file. But when I want to build a map which contains only pillars (0x660f) in a "mp" format (polish format) all names are written uppercase. Could you give me a clue to correct this ? Is there a way to deal with special codes from mapedit like "~[0x1e]" ? (this code in 8 bits coding shows only the second section of a label). Someone found a solution for roads symbols (~[0x01], ~[0x02], ~[0x03], ~[0x04], ~[0x05] and ~[0x06]). It would be great if we could use ~[0x0c] (first section visible on map), ~[0x0e] (second section visible on map), ~[0x0f] (first part only when over 1km, used before elevation).

[PATCH] Tile splitter: switch for disabling compression of output file

The tile splitter always compresses its output files. It is unnecessary if you need the output files for some preprocessing in an uncompressed form anyway. Besides it is slightly faster without compression. The attached patch adds a switch "--compressed=false" to switch off the compression. Some performance comparisons on the germany.osm.bz2 file from the Geofabrik: All runs are with -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m --compressed=true Total time 3723s real 62m4.775s user 34m26.067s sys 25m55.815s --compressed=false Total time 3574s real 59m34.642s user 31m7.879s sys 26m9.109s Only about 5% better performance without compression. Route Avoidances via Stylefile and problems with roads vs non roads

1. I know that there was some talk about route avoidances in the mailinglist already. But I can't find it anymore. I want to set additional attributes (in the stylefile) to certain linetpyes so that you can exclude them from routing via the Avoid Settings. How do I add this info: Toll Roads Unapved Roads Carpool Lanes Highways What I want is to give highway=footway and bicycle=no the toll roads tag, so when I am using the autorouting I can exclude footways and ways unsuitable to bicycles by activating "avoid toll roads" or "avoid unpaved roads". 2. Why are motorways automatically autoroutable, EVEN if I don't assign road class and speed class to them and exclude them from the routable type (0x01-0x13), i.e. by attributing them 0x29! This is really annoying because if you built maps for cyclists you want to include motorways, but don't want them to be autoroutable. The only way I can currently achieve this is by commanding highway=motorway {set highway=_motorway} or similar. I don't even have the motorways in an routable layer. I put them into their own map creation process without parsing --route. I create the layers with this command: java -enableassertions -jar -Xmx6000M d:\garmin\mkgmap_svn\dist\mkgmap.jar --latin1 --no-sorted-roads --description=08_openmtbmap_%abr% --style-file=motorway --country-name=%country% --country-abbr=%abr% --mapname=%mapid%0000 %country%*.osm.gz and my main routable layer with this command: java -enableassertions -jar -Xmx6000M d:\garmin\mkgmap_svn\dist\mkgmap.jar --latin1 --no-sorted-roads --style-file=routable --route --country-abbr=%abr% --country-name=%country% --mapname=%mapid%0100 --%country%*.osm.gz

What about accentuated letters

Hello, Using the latest svn trunk code (dated may 3rd), I cannot see any longer accentuated letters on the map generated for my Garmin gps. All accentuated letters are replaced by question marks. Hi! When using a route (gpx route) with my generated map on my etrex Vista, the purple route marker is drawn on top of the map, blotting out the ways. When using a Garmin map on my iQue, the route marker is drawn under the ways, which is much more useful. What do I need to change in order to have the Garmin device draw the route marker under the ways? thanks Nop

Some points 2m outside the bounding box gets included in the img. With this patch it works correctly now. I've tested this since some days and up to now found no new failures. Whatever the reason for this small delta was, there should be no bad effects, if one adds a somewhat bigger delta. - Johann Gail
