We don't yet (if ever) support via ways but when they occur in the map data they cause inappropriate warning messages to be output. So even if we can't actually generate a turn restriction with a via way, we can at least cut down on the noise when they occur. Patch from Marko M?\195?\164kel?\195?\164.

Combining several different maps into one gmapsupp

Hi I've improved the way that mkgmap combines maps into the gmapsupp.img. It should now be possible to switch map families separately and have different TYP files for each family. If you want to try it out the code is on the mapset branch, or you can download a ready compiled jar from the normal download page: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/snapshots/ Choose the one like mkgmap-mapset-r*.jar (You can get an up to date build of any other current branch there as well. They are usually no more than half an hour out of date.) This is an example of two map families being combined into one gmapsupp.img. As the .img files do not contain the family-id's then you have to specify them. Turn restriction exception 'destination'

mkgmap does not like this relation: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/55796 except = destination;taxi restriction = only_straight_on type = restriction It does not recognize the 'destination'. I thought that I would ask if mkgmap could support the analogy of access=destination on turn restrictions. In this case, I think that the proper fix is tagging the forbidden destination street (Keskuskatu) entirely as motor_vehicle=destination. It is a narrow street crowded by pedestrians and construction sites, and the other end of the street (Aleksanterinkatu) is flagged motor_vehicle=destination, maxspeed=20 by traffic signs. Sea tiles problem

I've just started using the --generate-sea option, and it almost works. The problem is that of the UK, the whole of northern Scotland (north of a line through Stirling) is inverted - i.e. the land is blue and the sea is light yellow (black at night). This is inconvenient, as that's where I live. What's the likely cause? Could it be due to an island that's tagged in the wrong direction? I've checked the most northerly and most westerly islands and they all look okay to me. GeoFabrik's OSM Inspector doesn't flag up any coastline errors in that area, so that's no help. I could probably dig out the splitter log if that's any use - on the screen, this problem does seem to affect more than one of the output files - but it does look suspicious that the affected files are all contiguous.

[PATCH] Reduce log noise about via ways

Mark, The attached patch allows the 'via' member of a RestrictionRelation to be a way. The isValid() method will still return false if the 'via' is not a node, but the log output should make more sense. Tested on Geofabrik's finland.osm.bz2 from yesterday. Warnings of the form "'via' ways are not yet supported" and "doesn't start or end at 'via' node or way" were issued. Best regards, Marko

Version 1329 was commited by markb on 2009-10-28 10:00:15 +0000 (Wed, 28 Oct 2009) Added --max-flare-length-ratio option. --max-flare-length-ratio=NUM When checking flare roads, ignore roads whose length is greater than NUM (an integer) times the distance between the nodes on the roundabout that the flare roads connect to. Using this option with a value of at least 5 will cut down the number of legitimate roads that are flagged as flare road problems. Default value is 0 (disabled) because it's not a completely reliable heuristic.

highway-symbol and name

Hello, the style-file called "lines" contains something like this: highway=secondary {name '${ref|highway-symbol:oval} ${name}' | '${ref|highway-symbol:oval}' | '${name}' } Can you explain me how this should work? I would expect to see somewhere the name of the street, but in Mapsource you can only see the ref of the street (as tooltip holding the mouse pointer over the street). Also the etrex shows me routing information like "ref to ref", but no street name. I think in Germany it's a good idea to show routing information only as ref for highway=motorway and highway=primary. I have never seen the ref for the other streets like K39, L273 and so on at the road signs. Thanks for helping. Ralf
