Merge locator branch back to trunk

Hi, I think the locator branch is ready to be merged back to trunk. I will improve the help files so that it's easier to understand what need to be added to the style file and which parameters need to be added to use the new locator features. Any objections? WanMil

Well I still don't like the results, but if it's fully optional and the old behaviour still possible, then go for it. For me the city branch is much more important (and for what I can see correct). Best improvement overall however would be true addresses with street number support. Everyone I spoke to about improvements to mkgmap on the State of the Map EU last few days, is waiting for this feature. If it were in mkgmap, I'm sure in say 3-4 months we will have the first big cities in Europe 80-90% housenumber complete (some are already at 30-40%). Also depending on how it's implemented, it would give certainity to mappers on how to map addresses (like is the current tagging really implementable) On 18.07.2011 19:05, WanMil wrote:

+1 for merging locator branch back to trunk. I know it take more time to create a map, but it's actually the only way to make maps searchable for addresses on Nuvis. And it would be nice to search for housenumbers and zip codes ;) Yesterday I've noticed that there also subregions in the address-index (CN Europe-Map). Searching for a suburb leads to the city. Cheers, Martin On that point you're wrong. Searching for Nüvi was enabled by the city branch - so you probably used a locator branch with city branch diff patches.

Maybe Felix solution work with older devices, but for the Oregon 450 and a Nüvi1390 it didn't work. I've tested both devices with serveral streets/places in different regions. I've made 2 small videos (sorry for that poor quality) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQnWpqtu98s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0Km6uzWdoY Another topic: Is it possible to update the --gmapsupp option to build maps including the index. I can confirm that address search works using the city-region-index-r1992 on Nuvi 1490t, 3790T and 1310. Have not yet tried the locator branch. On Tue, Jul 19, 2011 at 3:41 AM, Felix Hartmann <extremecarver@gmail.com> wrote:

So, I've tried Extremcarvers MTB-Map and there is something weird. His maps work with leaving the city out. But from where this problem with my maps comes, is not clear. I've tried several options, but still get this error. Now that I have Extremcarvers options I can try to find the option, which causing this problem... Sorry for bothering the list, please don't flame me... Have I already said, that I would like to see the --gmapsupp-option making maps, including the index?! The city branch has already been merged back to trunk since r1995. The commit email was not send to the dev list. These changes have also been merged to the locator branch since r2000. WanMil

+ 1 for the merge. I would also like to see address search possible, but the question is: who has the information to program that into mkgmap? Cheers, Johan On Mon, 18 Jul 2011 20:41:17 +0200, Felix Hartmann wrote:
