Hi Steve, I just want to let you know that the gmapsupp-mdr branch works great for me! I tested in on an Oregon 300. I couldn't start with systematic tests but up to now I had no device shutdowns and could find all addresses. Thanks for that great piece of work! WanMil

I couldn't start with systematic tests but up to now I had no device shutdowns and could find all addresses. I also tried this and it appears to work fine on my Oregon 450. The only thing I still need to understand is why my streets are not assigned a City nor a State. How can I debug and understand what is missing?
There is an admin boundary for the city which is really complicated (outer/inner members). Not sure about the state as this is a single state (North Carolina) extract from geofabrik. Francisco

Did you try to extract the boundary relations and their members from the Geofabrik extract with Osmosis, and loading the result in JOSM? I have successfully used that technique to analyze and fix coastline issues. But, I don't know the exact commands how to fetch all ways belonging to a given relation. Perhaps something like this? osmosis --rb STATE.osm.pbf --tf accept-relations 'boundary=*' \ --used-node --wx STATE-boundary.osm josm STATE-boundary.osm Best regards, Marko

OK that is great. Has anyone tested that the MapSource style index is OK on the branch? There were a couple of changes that might have affected it. Maybe even improved it. The only other thing is that the mapsource style index is no longer produced when --gmapsupp is given. I think that I will just create them both if tdbfile and gmapsupp options are given. Then it can be merged back I think. ..Steve

Great work Steve...and I didn't even realise this was here until this post I've tried this on my Edge 800 and the address search now works which it didn't before. Having tried a few random searches I have noticed that if I search for "willow street" my 800 turns itself off but if I search for "willow" and then select "willow street" from all the possibilities then it works fine. Don't know if this is relevant, particular to the 800 or just one of those things but I though I'd mention it Cheers Paul On 08/12/11 12:17, Steve Ratcliffe wrote:

It's hard to tell unless there is a pattern to when it happens or not, if it is just a single street, then I'm unlikely to be able to do anything about it I'm afraid. ..Steve

Steve, How is the progress going with this branch? It would be great if this will be moved to trunk when a few minor issues are solved, mainly the search index for Mapsource when --gmapsupp is generated. The 'ghost' tile borders that appear in Mapsource while selecting the tiles or when the gmapsupp is read in Basecamp are hard to track down but only cosmetic afaik, other than these issues I can't find any bugs yet.
