this is probably me doing something wrong, but i can't figure out what is it :) generating garmin image with, for example : --mapname=1234 --description=Latvia-2013.01.01 --country-name=Latvia --country-abbr=LV --route --remove-short-arcs --add-pois-to-areas --index --gmapsupp the resulting map works great in vista hcx and nuvi 50, but address search does not work - nothing is found at all. if searching for nearby towns/cities, they are found properly, though. using mkgmap-r2337. what am i doing wrong ? -- Rich

FWIW, this was the case when --index was not implemented. Garmin Edge 705 would even find nearby streets. But only nearby ones. I tested by looking for Kisatie, which exists all over Finland. Only the nearby matches were found. Marko

Just to make sure: do you have all the options specified before the osm files? Gerd -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/pebkac-index-not-working-tp5748471p5748540.ht... Sent from the Mkgmap Development mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

You probably also need the --bounds and --location-autofill parms to make address search work. Gerd -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/pebkac-index-not-working-tp5748471p5748541.ht... Sent from the Mkgmap Development mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

oh. i had hoped for mkgmap to do all the magic from osm data :) i added --location-autofill , but that didn't seem to help. is there any way to tell mkgmap to use source pbf as the bounds source ? another interesting thing - when searching for cities on nuvi 50, they are displayed in "Normal" case... but they are not found unless i search for all caps. for example, i'd see "Riga", but search for "Ri" would find nothing. "RI" would find it...

regarding bounds: see the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mkgmap/help/options I think you need the --code-page parm.
