Showing coastline with --generate-sea

There was a mention some months ago during the active development of 'sea' generation that when '--generate-sea:no-mp' was used 'natural=coastline' cannot be displayed. I understand that a patch was developed to reinstate this. Can this patch now be landed on the development 'trunck'. Bill.

Hi Bill, which patch do you mean? Can you give a link to it? WanMil

This might be what he's referring to: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/pipermail/mkgmap-dev/2010q1/007920.html

Yes, that looks like the one, although in the thread referred to, I think that '--generate-coastline' should read '--generate-sea'. I have no experience of compiling Windows programs from source code so cannot try the patch myself. Are there any archived builds that contain this patch I could try?. Bill.

The referred patch is much too old to be used now. I have created a new patch. Please test it and if it finds enough supporters on the list I will commit it. WanMil

My temporary solution to this issue has been to create an additional map layer containing ONLY the element 'natural=coastline' and giving this layer a priority higher than the main 'base layer' but lower than the 'contours' layer. It seems to work well but a patched mkgmap to overcome this problem would be better.
