Need a coordinate or way ID in coastline warnings

Hi WanMil, I got a mystery coastline error that I am unable to fix, because I fail to see any inverted sea and land on the map. It would be very helpful if these messages mentioned the original way IDs or just a map coordinate of the whereabouts of the error. Best regards, Marko 2011/02/13 11:16:31 WARNING (MultiPolygonRelation): 63240006.osm.gz: Multipolygon http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/4611686018427479706 contains errods. 2011/02/13 11:16:31 WARNING (MultiPolygonRelation): 63240006.osm.gz: Polygon 4611686018427486359(8P)(4611686018427482944[8P]) carries role inner but lies inside an inner polygon. Potentially its role should be outer. 2011/02/13 11:16:31 WARNING (MultiPolygonRelation): 63240006.osm.gz: Polygon 4611686018427486368(13P)(4611686018427482953[13P]) carries role inner but lies inside an inner polygon. For what it is worth, I found and fixed the errors after loading a natural=coastline extract of the finland.osm.pbf extract to JOSM and using the Validator. I guess that the coastline checks should be moved a notch up from the INFO level. Marko

Hi Marko, I remember that I implemented a first version of a patch that gives real OSM ids in the coastline warnings. But I could not find it... I put that on my todo list. WanMil

Hi WanMil,

Thanks, that would be great for the next time. I guess I should file a JOSM validator bug for moving the coastline checks to the WARNING or ERROR level, because I've seen and fixed several coastline errors in the past month or two. These errors were minor: coastline overlapping islands, and two islands overlapping each other (someone basically drew a duplicate island with a slightly different shape). Last time, it was easy to spot the error from the big map. I just went to the "corner" of the box of inverted land and sea, and noticed that a straight section of coastline is missing. Marko
