in the default style there is an example, how you can set tags for the members of a relation based on the tags from the relation. Now I want to set tags depending on the role of the members. How can this be done? Would something like "role=example" work?

Yes this is possible. Example: type=multipolygon { apply role=outer { set ... }} Now only the members of the relation with the specified role are tagged. Rudi
