bridges 'under' motorways

I'm sure this has been covered before but I've not been able to find a solution. I have a unclassified road bridge crossing a motorway: the bridge shares nodes with each lane of the motorway when rendered on my GPS/mapsource Basemap the result is always the same: the motorway seems to cross the unfortunate bridge I've tried dropping mway level to -1 and bridge top +4 but to no avail. Looks like Mways are always drawn last ? -- View this message in context: http://gis.638310.n2.nabble.com/bridges-under-motorways-tp6936453p6936453.ht... There is no way to specify this in classic garmin map format. Each GPS/Mapsource etc. decides based on software which type lays above which other type. Depending on firmware it may be opposite way around. On 27.10.2011 16:06, n Willink wrote:

A bridge should not share nodes with the road beneath it. -- Jeff Ollie

Good point about not sharing nodes! Thanks, Felix, I suspected that was the answer. Interesting, my bridges are defined as an extended polyline 0x110 etc and so are located in RGN3. I used to think extended lines are drawn last, but obviously not... -- View this message in context: http://gis.638310.n2.nabble.com/bridges-under-motorways-tp6936453p6936500.ht... Maybe use line 0x01 for bridges only helps, because I know 0x01 and 0x02 are drawn (at least on Mapsource/Basecamp) the last. I use 0x02 for bike routes (blue dotted lines in the middle of the road). On a few devices (like the old Etrex) they were drawn under other lines, so I had to make holes in those lines (line types 0x101xx) to make the bike route visible. I used 0x01 for bicycle=no which was almost in every device on top of other roads. A few warnings: -routable lines used as overlay must be routable, otherwise routing via address search will break -don't make the labels of those routable lines invisible, it will make the streetname labels on some units disappear on ALL maps (until you perform a hard reset).

Thanks Minko for the 'work around' ; will give it a go -- View this message in context: http://gis.638310.n2.nabble.com/bridges-under-motorways-tp6936453p6936644.ht... Sent from the Mkgmap Development mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
