Hi, does anyone know whether it is possible to create POIs, but not have them listed in the Find Points of Interest list? I have things like gates and barriers displayed on my map, but if possible want them to not be searchable. Alternatively, is there another way of displaying these on the map? Thanks, Mike

Depends on the GARMIN firmware. With older devices, some POI id ranges do not shown up in the search lists, but with newer devices/firmwares, it seems that all show up. Hi Mike, in the subject you mention the index. AFAIK we can easily add a new tag like mkgmap:add-to-index=no which tells mkgmap which map objects are not be placed in the index. I am not so sure about the effect. If I got it right, the device might still show the POIs in the lists, but without index that might be slower. Gerd Mike Baggaley wrote

Depends on the device/firmware. My GPSMap 60CSx only shows this POIs, which are part of the index and not in special ranges. Searching for POIs is very fast. My GPSMap 62s shows always all POIs, and searching for POIs is always slow. I need to do a reset after updating the maps to have the search useable. My impression is, it does not use the index at all. Hi Gerd, thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try and post a patch if it works. Hi Gerd, I've successfully got mkgmap:add-to-index='no' working for excluding roads names from the address index, but I have realised that the POIs I want to exclude are not in the index anyway, as the MdrUtils .canBeIndexed function is returning false for them. I assume therefore that it is not possible to hide POIs from the Find Points of Interest list, unless you have any other suggestions.
