MapSource special behaviour with Chinese characters (unicode)

Hi all, it seems that the search in MapSource does something special when I search for road names with chinese characters. The result list contains all road names that match in the first 2 characters "八卦", as if MapSource simply ignores the rest. I've used these options: --lower-case --preserve-element-order --bounds=f:\osm\bounds.zip --gmapi --gmapsupp --index --code-page=65001 --net With German road names this doesn't happen. Gerd

Hi Gerd Our unicode sort is known to be incomplete and this incompleteness is probably reflected in the SRT subfile. MapSource might try and use this to effectively reproduce the Mdr section we don't write for unicode and this could make lots of names look identical and hence not to be shown in the street selection list. Hi Ticker, yes, something like that might happen. I don't say something is missing, the opposite: I get too many matches. I used my patch, so maybe the results are a bit different with trunk. My Oregon seems not even able to display the chinese characters, so I cannot check anything with it. Anyway, compared to r4808 the search works much better, at least on MapSource. Hi Ticker, the interisting thing is that this doesn't happen with POI search. Only names with exact match or names starting with the search value are shown. BUT road search doesn't offer to search for partly names, you have to pick a name from the list, so maybe the content of Mdr15 is the key.
