Since september 13th, the .osm.bz2 files are no longer updated. Is there a problem with Geofabrik or/and the new licence of OSM? is there another place those OSM extracts are available?Thank you. Are you getting the problem in the splitter? I tried to recreate with a small set of data. I downloaded latest pbf for Iceland, splitter did fine, but mkgmap hung in some loop, then (eventually died). Could be a problem with the splitter and mkgmap!! I guessed increasing the nodes would be a fix for the splitter (if the memory is there), but I don't know a fix for mkgmap. Steve, My problem turned out to be a silly one. I had done some clean up of my directory in the past and deleted the icenik.typ file the script was trying to use. Both splitter and mkgmap are now happy and processing data fine. I'll play about with the with different splitter alignments to see if I can regenerate your problem. P.S. Francois, you mention .osm.bz2 files. If you are only putting them through splitter and mkgmap, it is much quicker to both download and process the binary .pbf extracts.
