Hi! POIs that have no address tagged get "Fix my address" in the Info screen. That is OK for restaurants, shops, etc. but there are also many POIs that have no address, e.g. bus stops. So there "Fix my address" makes not so much sense. What do you think? Dani

Addendum:

Yesterday I saw a POI in my map that had just the name "Fresh House" and "Fx my address". I looked it up in potlatch. It is a shop=organic, type=bio. I think it could be helpful to add this information in the info file. Dani

Where are you getting the "Fix my address", and which info file would you like to augment? The default mkgmap style does translate shop=organic, but the menu entry is called something else. Some day I should document it better, at http://www.polkupyoraily.net/osm/ or at a more appropriate place. For what it is worth, I have been defining name, name:fi, name:sv, ref, url, addr:* on bus stops along my bicycle or bus rides. Often I have not assigned addr:housenumber or addr:postcode, but addr:street, addr:city, addr:country are easy. I have also assigned url pointing to the municipality's web site (I think you would call it Verkehrsverein in Germany) where one can see which lines are passing the bus stop and when. Best regards, Marko

Where are you getting the "Fix my address" <snip> This is provided automatically by mkgmap for POIs that don't have sufficient addr: tags.

Hi Marko!

I click on a POI that eg has no special icon, just a small square, in my Garmin: Then I get the choice: name, in this example Fresh house, then the area below, if tagged and the area below this area. I think it could be helpful to know that is a store that sells organic food. (i.e. just to write the tags into this field) There exist many tags that are not mapped to special icons in Garmin devices. This is also a bit complicated since there are so many. So it would be really helpful to be able to read them. (That is also something that I really miss in Potlatch: If I see a green point, I have to choose edit just to see its features). Since I am not a very experienced mapper I always have the fear to damage something. Dani

Hi! The opposite approach is, to attach an icon to every possible tag. Then my chosen name (via TYP file) is represented in the header of the info file. But that is a bit annoying .. ;-))) Dani
