construction as industry?

Hi I just realised that in the default polygon style construction, whether its residential or industrial , is always defined as industrial 0x0c. I understand the' logic' , in that there are many 'mobile' industries constructing residential or industrial buildings. In my city there are numerous large construction sites, all of them constructing residential housing. If I were unknown to the city and plan a route through an industrial area I would expect to find the following : a) industrial blocks / units / working businesses b) roads entering and crossing industrial areas safe from barriers,fencing,cones,mud-sweepers,grumpiness or foremen etc Personally I would provide a separate polygon , ie 0x27 perhaps Just a thought. Hi Nick, type 0x0c is used for very different things. A quick grep 0x0c -r * shows these polygon rules: inc/landuse_polygons:landuse=commercial [0x0c resolution 19] inc/landuse_polygons:landuse=construction [0x0c resolution 21] inc/landuse_polygons:landuse=quarry [0x0c resolution 19] inc/landuse_polygons:landuse=industrial [0x0c resolution 23-19] This looks in fact a bit strange to me. @Style experts: Please suggest other types. Hi Gert I fully agree with you : The following are mere suggestions but taken from the mapnik.typ which takes into account Garmin's reserved type numbers and seem not clash with known type numbers. quarry : 0x12 power=station | power=sub_station:0x25 commercial: 0x26 construction:0x27 landfill : 0x2a hth Nick -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n8.nabble.com/construction-as-industry-tp5890573p5890643.ht... Hi Nick, I looked at this again. If I got that right the fact that we don't create a TYP file means that we only have very different types which are displayed on the GPS. So, your modifications don't improve much on the GPS. Do you have other findings? Hi Gert OK I get you. I hadn't realised that the default style has to be TYP independent. Yes, without a TYP Garmin doesn't display the suggested 0x27 on Mapsource. r Nick -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n8.nabble.com/construction-as-industry-tp5890573p5891040.ht...
