Hi, I wasn't able to find specific addresses on my Garmin 62s, even if I did know that I entered them in OSM. During testing of my adjusted style for the new mkgmap version, I found out that the addresses are not missing, but that the addresses don't have a city assigned. That's why I cannot find them on my 62s, where I have to enter a city always, but with mapsource. The question is now, why? This happens with the default style of mkgmap, too, independent of the mkgmap version. For example, look here: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/49.44674/11.03418 There are two buildings from Siemens, Von-der-Tann-Strasse 30 and 31 in 90439 Nuernberg. As you could see in the attached screenshot, only the housenumber 31 has a city assigned, the number 30 has not. I added some "echotags" to the style file: mkgmap:city is set correct to Nuernberg in all cases. Any idea what's going wrong? Hi Thorsten, I wasn't able to find specific addresses on my Garmin 62s, even if I did know that I entered them in OSM. does that mean that address search works normally but not for these cases ? Gerd

The address search works fine except for these cases, yes. So entering in my Garmin 62s: "Deutschland" "Nurnberg" "31" "Von-der-Tann-Strasse" will show me the correct address on the map (could be that you need to select "Von-der-Tann-Strasse (B4R)", depending on the style). Entering "30" instead will not find the Address. If you repeat the same in Mapsource, but leaving the city field empty, mapsource will find the address in Nuernberg, but not if you search for Nuernberg. Hi Thorsten, it seems that the LocationHook doesn't work in r2912, at least not with an old boundary file created 2012. Looking at it... Gerd

Hi WanMil, yes, LocationHook works as expected, and I also think the index is the problem. I have no idea how to fix that, I don't even know what index is used. My guess: The housenumner 31 is the first or last on that side of the road, while 30 on the other side is just one of many. If I got that right, we save something like "odd numbers from x to y on left", so maybe the device can only find the x and y value. I remember that I never used the search like this on my Oregon because results are wrong. If I leave out the housenumber the device shows a list containing only a few numbers. Gerd

I tried it with "Mittelfranken" from http://download.geofabrik.de/europe/germany/bayern.html and run into that bug. I will be travelling now, but if I'm back I will try smaller areas. Hi

OK thanks. I tried with that file with the same result; the city is on both buildings. I've uploaded the relevant tile http://files.mkgmap.org.uk/detail/165 for others to try in case it is environment dependant. ..Steve

Ok, with that tile, it works for me, too. I used the prebuild mkgmap.jars from mkgmap.org, so that shouldn't be that problem. Which options did you use the generate the *.img file? I used now this as smallest option: mkgmap --latin1 --bounds=bounds --location-autofill=bounds,is_in,nearest --housenumbers --route --net --index *.osm.pbf And with this, I run into the problem of the missing city again :( Either it's a jar not bundled with mkgmap, some options, my self generated bounds files or else I have no idea :( Thorsten -- Thorsten Kukuk, Senior Architect SLES & Common Code Base SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg)

Hi Thorsten, reg. the bounds: you said that you echo the tags for both housenumbers. If you see the same mkgmap:xyz values for both the precompiled boundaries are not the problem. On the other hand, you might download the files generated by WanMil to do a cross-check. Gerd

Hi It appears to be the housenumber block count patch. I've posted a previous version, and I've attached the most up-to-date version of it. This is good, since previously I had no proof that it did anything useful (cgpsmapper maps do not seem to set it). There is an unresolved issue, in that it assumes that the routing level is always 0 which may not be true any more. @Gerd Do I remember right that you fixed routing so that it would work even when the resolution was not 24? Could you comment on the patch? ..Steve

Hi Steve, regarding routing on level 0: We allow now to use resolution 23 or lower as the lowest level, but routing is still only done on level 0. Thanks for the feedback. I have no idea why the patch should affect the cities in the first place, but since we know that it does I will examine the examples that still do not work and see if I can see anything in common. ..Steve

I found a bug where the wrong nodes were being used for the house numbers. This would tend to push house numbers further along the road than they should be and once they are pushed off the end they appear to lose their city too. The attached patch is an additional patch that should be applied as well as the previous one (which I will commit anyway). It seems to fix all the cases that I was using as tests. ..Steve

Hi Any comments on this patch? I shall commit it soon if I hear nothing, since it seems to be a big improvement in my own tests. On 05/01/14 22:19, Steve Ratcliffe wrote:
