With maps made with mkgmap Basecamp does profiles for tracks but not for routes (height data from contours) But I have made a map using the same existing img files from mkgmap and adding some forest tracks made with gpsmapedit/cgpsmapper and combining them with Gmaptool to make a new map and I now have profiles for routes as well. It would appear that Gmaptool does something that mkgmap does not for route profiles.
