yes. Does not seem to matter.

Hi Gerd - okay now with patched and removing --adjust-turn-headinfs - plus adding both options I can see (vs before with adjust-turns-headings) a) improvements on some tight turns (though not all tight turns) b) less of those errors (though some still exist - but much less) c) less erroneous detours on longer routes d) valid only for Car/Motorcycle routing - often on the same route shorter times - sometimes longer as well though. The other profiles are much less affected here.
e) no difference at all in the maximum routable distance.
Once a strange degradation (again same place as yesterday): Routing is alway correct on old map - but times are much slower. Old map nearly always had 1min [image: Inline images 1]
Only on Driving profile this bug happens (but no other - even Motorcycle is fine). Still 1min. However all other profiles (except walking) are between 26-28seconds. [image: Inline images 2]
Overall I would say it's a clear improvement (but yeah - those additional ways I guess would still be better).

If you did not also use --x-fix-sharp-angles you measured the effect of the removal of the --adjust-turn-headings option, as --x-cycle-map on it own has no effect with the patch.
Reg. testing: Please try to route to points close to but not on the road. Maybe this avoids the u-turns when the Garmin algo reaches the target on the "right" road (but "wrong" arc) and adds a u-turn to get on the road arc that was selected as target.

Well - I used --x-cycle-map
but for some intersections it would still not work. In 4 out of 10 long distance routing examples I tried in Basecamp - the result was better. In 4 it was the same, and in 2 it was slightly worse. So overall it is a modest improvement - but I would have hoped for a bit more. Still - clearly and improvement.

Hi all,
attached is v2 of the patch, the binary is here:
Correction: the previous versions did not change angles like this: /\ Improvement: For bicycle maps, the angle is changed up to 90° for arcs with high road speeds.
Options (--x-fix-sharp-angles and --x-cycle-map) are the same.
@Felix: I wait for your feedback now, as I have no way to test with your style.

got your mail with the pictures. Please check: You wrote that you used --x-cycle-map, but you did not mention --x-fix-sharp-angles. I was probably not clear about these options.

Hi Felix, I am a bit confused now. The other profiles are much less affected here. e) no difference at all in the maximum routable distance. Once a strange degradation (again same place as yesterday): Routing is alway correct on old map - but times are much slower. Old map nearly always had 1min Only on Driving profile this bug happens (but no other - even Motorcycle is fine). Still 1min. However all other profiles (except walking) are between 26-28seconds. Hmm, the version you downloaded is the one with patch v2 applied, --adjust-turn-headings and --x-cycle-map ( but without --x-fix-sharp-angles!). I actually don't even have that one installed. I don't see the error on an older version (even older than the one you downloaded - that means it had --adjust-turn-headings no new option, and no patch applied). Map data/mkgmap split is however identical. With the newest version with correct options given and v2 patch (--adjust-turn-headings not given, but with --x-fix-sharp-angles and with --x-cyclemap and of course patch v2) it only happens in Driving Profile with Shorter Distance (and all avoidances deselected). With faster time the bug does not appear. okay good luck. Mind it's one of a few places where it degraded. In general I think the patch v2 is an improvement... If you need I can search for some more places where patch v2 made things worse (however for many I think it depends on the autorouting settings). In any case it's clear - Garmin does not like such supersharp angles (and they usually don't appear for streets - only for pathes/tracks that are in "the nature"). Hi Felix, it's quite funny. The --adjust-turn-headings option is NOT AT ALL able to handle multiple routable arcs for the same OSM way. For each arc at the node it changes the headings for some of the arcs, so it probably creates all kinds of angles. I still have to find out why the new algo in the patch doesn't help at this place. Maybe I did not yet find all parameters that influence the result. I just copied the newest version with the bug to openmtbmap.org/mtbaustria.exe if you want to try it out (timestamp is 2015-09-03) You're version was the one where I could not see much improvements but actually saw some things changed to before.... I just downloaded and installed mtbaustria.exe (files in it where created 2015-09-02) and I see the error at node 2509650557 (detour and u-turn at node 255940422) What do you call the "old map" ?
