location style obsolete?

The location style contains rules for address mapping that have now been replaced by the new addr style which is included by the new style inclusion. Any objections againg removing that? WanMil

Any objections againg removing that? What do you mean with it? I think you don't mean things like mkgmap:street, :city, :housenumber, :admin_level* and so on. In this case, I think it's not needed any more. Above tags are handled in style-file so they shouldn't be changed internal.

The location style contains exactly the same rules like the inc/address of the default style. As far as I remember the idea was to import that which didn't work. This was one reason to implement the style include system. WanMil

Hi WanMil, I don't like it very much, that mkgmap did several things with the data, which can't be influenced via style. I haven't tried to include mkgmap-default-address-style, but I include my own one.
I think if operations can made via style-file, then mkgmap shouldn't do this himself. Henning

Sorry, I think I misunderstand you. I think the internal handling of these tags could be removed, because this could be done via style-file and include.

No, please remove it. Sorry, I have been busy with work longer than I thought, and I have not been able to contribute to mkgmap. I very much appreciate the recent development with the style file processing and in the splitter. If anyone wants to step up as the style file maintainer, be my guest. Because I am not using Garmin devices any more (OsmAnd on the Xperia Active is good enough for my needs), I am probably not the best person to maintain the style. Some things that would interest me, such as public transportation routing, do not seem to be doable on the Garmin. My main use of mkgmap (and currently the main contribution to OSM) is fixing the map data in Finland. Mkgmap is good at reporting errors related to turn restrictions or oneways. Best regards, Marko PS: I just updated to the latest splitter and mkgmap, and Finland still looks OK. Good work! :-)
