Numeric filename set the mapname from the filename, unless a mapname argument is given. In that case all mapnames after that are determined by the set value and not by the filename.

It seems this still isn't fixed in Mkgmap r983. The template.args file contains: mapname: 73240001 description: OSM Map input-file: 63240001.osm.gz mapname: 73240002 description: OSM Map input-file: 63240002.osm.gz mapname: 73240003 description: OSM Map input-file: 63240003.osm.gz [And many more] Mkgmap r983 creates 63240000.tdb 63240000.img 73240001.tdb 63240002.tdb 63240003.tdb etc.
I'm sorry, this is a wrong report. I forgot to update my build script to actually use that version of Mkgmap. It actually works fine with Mkgmap r983. Lambertus wrote:

It seems this still isn't fixed in Mkgmap r983.
