Hi Steph, these steps work fine for me: 1) follow the general instructions to create a buid environment: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/dev/index.html 2) modify build.xml, change the line <exclude name="**/optional/*.java"/> to <exclude name="**/dem/optional/*.java"/> 3) change into the directory containing build.xml 3) run the commands ant resolve-optional ant dist to build mkgmap.jar with PrecompSeaGenerator 4) run a command similar to this java -Xmx6800m -cp .\dist\mkgmap.jar;.\lib\optional\* uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.sea.optional.PrecompSeaGenerator f:\osm\land-polygons-split-4326\land_polygons.shp WGS84 e:\work\sea Gerd

Hi Gerd, Thank you very much ! Here is what is working for me (GNU/Linux) : java -Xmx5G -cp "./dist/mkgmap.jar:./lib/optional/*" uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.sea.optional.PrecompSeaGenerator /home/steph/Data2/osm/planet/land_polygons.shp WGS84 /home/steph/Data2/osm/planet/sea See you later about the bounds ;-) Will need a lot of memory ? Hi Steph,
See you later about the bounds ;-) Will need a lot of memory ? Yes, if you want to process the whole planet at once. It is possible to split planet and merge the bounds, see
http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/memory-requirements-for-generating-planet-bou... Gerd
