BUG: riverbank drawing error

Hi all. If a riverbank intersect a landuse, the riverbank should be drawn on top of the landuse. See the attachment for an example. Hi Matteo,

(Why) can't you define a multipolygon that cuts out the riverbank from the landuse? I am afraid that mkgmap would become a lot more complex if it allowed a drawing order to be defined for polygons and were able to create multipolygons or split polygons as needed. Correct me if I am wrong, but I understood that the the interpretation of drawing order differs between devices and MapSource or it requires multiple map layers in order to work properly. Marko

Does mkgmap make use of the layer tag? Cheers Dave F.

As far as we know (correct me if I'm wrong), the Garmin units (and thus their maps) don't have a concept of layer in the data - only in the stylesheet (TYP file). Thus there's not much we can do with the layer tag other than using it to decide what type to represent (or not) a feature with. You could, of course, write a TYPE file with ten copies of each feature, for each possible layer it could be at. You'd run out of layers fairly soon, though - and patience, too, I expect.
