Garmin Topo Germany 2012 (Topo Pro) -- first map with activity routing -- test map available

Just to drop a note, so everyone who wants to decipher/test the new map format can download the map here: http://www.garmin.com/de/topo/topod2012_kostenlostesten/ or direct link to gmapsupp.img http://static.garmin.com/shared/de/custom/topod2012/testversion/TopoD2012pro... (get it quick, cause experience shows it will probably only be available for a few weeks) (disassemble/split with gmaptool -- integration into Mapsource / Basecamp works flawless) Gpsmapedit identifies the map as NT The activity routing and activity related display of routes is only supported with newest firmware on newer generation GPS devices, and with Basecamp >= 3.3 Mapsource and older GPS units do not show the special routes.

Thanks for that url,Felix . Most interesting; glad to see the gmp format doesn't just contain jpgs. The embedded TYP file seems quite mondane showing pois with basic colormodes and traditional widths -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/Garmin-Topo-Germany-2012-Topo-Pro-first-map-w... correction, on closer examination it contains numerous pointers to unknown blocks and interestingly many highways < 0x29 have multiple ( ie 6 ) copies of themselves attached but with different colours and font extensions. This seems to indicated that somewhere in the RGN there must be an instruction to select the appropriate block? Perhaps this ties in with your activity routing? -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/Garmin-Topo-Germany-2012-Topo-Pro-first-map-w... Perhaps this ties in with your activity routing? probably, but how can we implement this into mkgmap?? It would be awesome if we could have activity routing too in our maps....
Also the sql database would be a nice (and simple to construct) addition - just needs a bit more info on how to integrate it to Garmin Basecamp (but that will come once the desktop version is out)

etrex 20/30 only support bicycle and foot (and I think that also only on next firmware update) according to the information. Only Dakota, Oregon, 62series and Montana will have full support (not sure about Dakota either). On 25.05.2012 22:35, Chris66 wrote:
