Hi John, I was able to reproduce the problem. I think it is caused by a wrong flag in the map regarding drive-on-left, means, Basecamp probably assumes that you are driving on the right side. The problem can be fixed using the --drive-on=left option or the --bounds option which allows mkgmap to detect the correct setting for a country. Please note that the script createIMG.bat is quite out-aged, it doesn't use powerful options like --index, --bounds, --precomp-sea, and --housenumbers. Gerd

OK... that worked out fairly well. I'm now using a slightly tweaked version of the default style supplied with mkgmap, and getting good results.
I still think there's something strange going on with routing, though, perhaps with the new version (4.5.0) of BaseCamp. This area of the map
http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/52.27095/0.29622
now renders like this

in BaseCamp, and I can plan a route
http://www.jjdash.myzen.co.uk/temp/reach2.png
which is fine, until I allow the use of unpaved roads, at which point BaseCamp inserts a completely pointless loop into the route!

Hi John,
I did not suggest to do that because I was unsure what style you are using. The styles shipped with CreateIMG-beta09.zip don't contain the needed changes which are documented here: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/news/2013/12/22/more-flexibility-in-style-files-sty... If you make sure that the default style shipped with the latest mkgmap.jar is used you should be on the safe side.
Gerd
