Just tried to compile a non routable map with mkgmap-r865 for a mp file (around 135MB).
The command line I used as below:
java -jar -Xmx1000M -enableassertions mkgmap.jar 123123.mp
The result img map show many lines(roads) with error. Refer to error1.jpg and error2.jpg. Before compiling the mp file looks like "before.jpg".
Not sure if there are anything wrong with the command I used or related to the map it-self...
