I think the reason is that the new code in MapSplitter etc. puts a lot more shapes into one sub div, esp. at low resolutions, and ShapeMergeFilter doesn't work well in that case as it starts to do lots of seq. seaches. i build 12 tiles. 3804 needs 11 minutes for that, 3796 only 5 minutes.
The style is not the default. Its the style from my "speichenkarte.de"

mkgmap-3803 needs for 1 map-tile 2-3 minutes. mkgmap-3796 (or older) needs only 15-30 seconds.
My PC is an older model.
IntelCore2 Duo 3GHz 6GB RAM 64bit win10
mkgmap starts with this:
"java" -jar -Xmx3300M -enableassertions -jar ..\..\mkgmap\mkgmap\mkgmap.jar
Can i anything do?
(Buy a faster PC :))
